Sahara eyes slice of online education sector

Sahara India is set to enter the online education sector. Officials of Sahara India said the
route map has been prepared and software for 14,000 hours of classroom lectures is being
churned out. Sahara founder and chairman Subrata Roy and senior officials were in Ranchi
on Thursday as part of a countrywide tour to prepare for the company's 40th anniversary in
2018. Ranchi was the last destination of his 18-city tour.

Sahara India will observe the year 'Sankalp Varsha', for which Roy has been directly
interacting with employees and workers across the country. In Ranchi, Roy discussed several
issues, including future plans and financial the position of the company, with the employees
at an event at Prabhat Tara ground in Dhurwa.

Sources close to Roy said a KPMG-Google survey estimates that the online education
segment has the potential to do business worth $1.96 billion in India. "Our networking is our
strength and, because of the robust base with over 14 lakh workers, we are ready to reach
out to people throughout the country to augment our virtual reach," an official of Sahara's
corporate communications department said.
