FRANCISCO ORINGO SR. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL


I. HISTORY
Francisco Oringo, Sr. Elementary School is situated in Purok Mangga, Barangay City Heights,
General Santos City, it caters sixteen(16) Puroks / Zones namely: Purok Mangga, Hermosa,
Vergara, Tuazon, Paradise, Soriano, Toledo, Villa Consuelo, Dacera, P.I. 16, Rogan, Panay,
Matatag, Sta. Teresita, Riverside and Purok Ampalaya.
The school is near Baptist Hospital and Wizard Academy. It is five (5) kilometers away
from the city.
Francisco Oringo, Sr. Elementary School was opened June 19, 1991.
The school site was initiated by the previous principal Mrs. Adela C. Anfone from the
Oringo family. The family donated five thousand square meters which was signed by the
whole children. The title of the school site bearing the name of Rolando U. Oringo, the
administrator of the family was turned over the to the late Superintendent Ajatil Jairal with
a ceremony attended by the donors.

The school was opened with four(4) teachers which were consider exist teachers from
different schools division.

4. Teresita B. Gimodo from Sarif Mucsin Elementary School

The school has no building, the 213 pupils were temporarily housed in the old Chinese
Institute of Agriculture (CIA) with four (4) classrooms without roof. The teachers and
students suffered from dust, heat and rain.
The following year, 1992-1993, the TIC was able to put up a makeshift building with six (6)
classrooms.
Community focus: The people in the community are engaged In business, government and
private employee, self-employed laborers, farmers, vendors, tricycle drivers, and sand and
gravel workers.

II. Schools Current Situation

Francisco Oringo Sr. Elementary School (School ID 131271) is among the 68 public
elementary schools in the Division of General Santos City. It excel not only academically but
also in sports, arts and dances as well. Recently the school was awarded as the 2 nd Place
Modelo and Paaralan Ko, 3rd place Best Brigada Eskwela Imp,ementer and 2nd Place Best SSPP
implementer.by the Local Government of General Santos and was ranked as Level II in the
School Based Management (SBBM) implementation in the division level. Let take a glimpse of
the school.

III. Geography
Francisco Oringo Sr. Elementary School is situated within Oringo Subd., Brgy. City Heights,
General Santos City. It is 3 kilometers away from city proper. It can be reached by riding
tricycle or mini-tricycle or traysikad.
For the past three years, no major incidence was experienced in the school. Minor
incidence includes, crime against school property and fire. These were easily addressed by
the school.

IV. Learning Environment

Its distance from the neighboring residence of the subdivision reflects a peaceful learning
environment for around 1140 pupils, 29 teachers, 1 school guard, 1 utility spearheaded by a school
principal.

The school has 22 buildings which consists of 31 rooms. Twenty-five (26) of these are used as
classrooms. Two (2) makeshift rooms were established to cater 2 classes. The other rooms are
functional rooms for library, faculty room, computer room, principals office and canteen.

Learner-Seat Ratio is 1:16. Some classrooms use desk while others occupy arm chairs and mono
block chairs with tables.

The school owned water meter from the GSC Water District. Each building has 6 water meters
which is safe to drink. The learning environment is also friendly for it can accommodate personal
necessities. Each room has a toilet and bowl. Fifteen (15) classroom already constructed T & B which
is gender sensitive.

The graph shows the actual ratio of books per learner. This data is helpful in determining the
books needed per grade level.
Nevertheless, the school has a functional library with 600 books. Every school year the school
borrowed reading books at the Library Hub to be distributed in all sections for use. The adviser is
required to fill out data from the Reading Log.

The listed facilities above are serviceable using high technology. The school has 2 internet
subscriptions with 5 mbps subscribed from Bayantel/Globe Telecommunications. It has also wifi
feature.
