Liabenow speaks on health care reform
by Nicole HorNbaker HamNer
On March 23, President Obama signed legislation to overhaul the
nations health care system. The Affordable Care Act became law,
and although the full scope of changes under this countrys health
care reform will not be in place until 2014, an echo of changes have
begun. For many, with it comes some confusion.
The act will affect all Americans, and the impact will be felt on
both employees and employers at small businesses in the area. To
try to untangle the new requirements, the Cadillac Area Chamber
of Commerce and Baker College partnered to present a Lecture
Luncheon regarding health care reform and how it will affect small
businesses in the area.
Ryan Liabenow from Employee Health Insurance Management,
Inc. (EHIM) gave a presentation on the new regulations and dis-
cussed with the chamber members the benefits as well as some of
the complications of working within the new law. Noting that the key to keeping up on the requirements and bene-
