PAST OF VERB TOBE

APOLOGIES

THE PAST TENSE

Equivale al imperfecto y el indefinido y se usa con acciones concluidas. Los verbos


regulares lo hacen de la siguiente forma:

PARA VERBOS REGULARES: son las acciones que en pasado se escriben casi
de la misma manera que en presente, solo se les agrega "ed" de acuerdo a estas
reglas:

A) "en cuanto a su escritura", se les agrega "ed" al final para convertirlas en


pasado.

Ask (ask) (preguntar, pedir). . . . . Asked (askt) (pregunto, pidi).

Work (work) (trabajar). . . . . . . . .worked (workt) (trabajo).

B) Cuando su escritura termine en "e", solo se le aumenta al final la "d".

Receive (riciv) (recibir). . . . . . Received (recivd) (recibi).

Arrive (awraiv) (llegar). . . . . . Arrived (awraivd) (lleg).

C) cuando termine en "y", y antes de esta va una consonante, entonces, se cambia


la "y" por "ied"; pero si antes de la "y" va una vocal, entonces solo se agrega "ed".
Study (studi) (estudiar). . . . . . .studied (studid) (estudio).

Play (plei) (jugar). . . . . . . . . . . . . .played (pleid) (jugo).

FORMA AFIRMATIVA. Sujeto + verbo en Infinitivo sin usar to + Ed

Ejemplo:

I played chess. Jugu al ajedrez.

I loved her. Yo la quera.


FORMA NEGATIVA. Sujeto + Did not, + verbo en infinitivo.

* El auxiliar es DID (pasado de DO); Did not contrae en didnt

Ejemplos:

I didnt go out. No sal.

We didnt arrive on time No llegamos a tiempo.

FORMA INTERROGATIVA. Did + Sujeto + verbo en Infinitivo.

Ejemplos

Did you buy the new CD? Compraste el disco?

Did she go to the market Fue ella al mercado?

PARA VERBOS IRREGULARES: Son las acciones que en pasado se escriben


totalmente diferente de cmo se escriben en presente. Las acciones irregulares
se tienen que aprender de memoria pues no existen reglas para ellas.

libro en la clase la semana pasada)

Para negar con pasado simple:

Persona + didnt + accin en presente + inf. Ex: They didnt ask many questions
yesterday. He didnt see a book in the class last week.

Para preguntar:

Did + persona + accin en presente + inf...?. Ex: Did they ask many questions
yesterday?. Did he see a book in the class last week?

Did you tell me the truth? (did iu tel mi de trud?) (me dijiste la verdad?)

Did she kiss her boyfriend? (did shi kis jer boifrend?) (beso ella a su novio?)
