My name is Casey LeFever. I graduated Appalachian in May
2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Secondary Education and was enrolled in graduate school through the Accelerated Admission (4+1) program for Middle Grades. Ive always enjoyed working with kids of all ages, but particularly those in middle and high school. Although Ive known I wanted to teach since I was in 3rd grade and have wanted to teach math since I took Algebra I in 8th grade, I was never completely sure of what age group. I chose to go the secondary route for my undergrad simply because I only wanted to concentrate on math. Since Im still fully open to the idea of teaching math in a middle school, I thought the Middle Grades 4+1 program would be an excellent opportunity to gain insight to young adolescent development while continuing to prepare myself to become the best educator I can be. Now, here I am! Im originally from Newton, NC which is in Catawba County and just outside of Hickory. I graduated from Maiden High School and student taught at St. Stephens High School in the same county. Currently my dream is to return home to teach within the same county or nearby.
