To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great pleasure and confidence that I write this letter of recommendation for Melina Miller,
University of Arizona student nurse. Melina will be graduating in the Fall of 2017 with a major in nursing
and a minor in psychology. I am faculty in the 2nd semester obstetrics (NURS 368) course at the College of
Nursing and was Melinas clinical instructor in the Fall of 2016. Melina is an honors student, and I have also
had the privilege of being a member of her thesis committee.

I have been faculty at the College of Nursing for four years. Prior to teaching, I worked for Carondelet
Health Network as an RN for 28 years. I served four years as the clinical educator and one year as manager
of the antepartum/womens surgical/maternal-newborn unit at St. Josephs Hospital in Tucson, Arizona.
Prior to womens health, I worked on a cardiac telemetry unit.

As Melinas instructor, I found her to be quick to learn and hardworking. She possesses excellent critical
thinking skills as well as a high degree of common sense. She was consistently prepared, enthusiastic,
engaged in the classroom, and did well academically in both the clinical and classroom setting. She is detail
oriented and has excellent writing skills. Melina has a quiet confidence that I believe puts both patients and
nurses at ease. She is supportive of her student colleagues and is truly a team player. She genuinely
cares for people and is a joy to be around!

Melina is an honors student and has proven to be a true scholar. Her organizational and leadership skills
have shown strong through her efforts to make a difference in the lives of new mothers and infants with
her project on improving skin-to-skin contact following birth.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Melina to you as I believe she will be successful at whatever type of
nursing she puts her mind to, and will be a positive addition to any healthcare team. If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact me at (520) 404-9748.

With kindest regards,

Sharon C. Hitchcock, DNP, RNC-MN
