To Whom It May Concern:

Since I was a little girl, I have always dreamed about being a nurse. Watching my mom help so
many people as a critical care nurse inspired me and helped me find my passion. So with that
said, I am about to fulfill one of my dreams, which is to receive my BSN. I will successfully
complete this in December of 2017 from The University of Arizona. The second part of my
dream, is to apply my nursing experience in Southern California, where I grew up, so I can fulfill
my passion just like my mom and inspire others in this field. It is with great enthusiasm that I
submit this cover letter along with my resume for the consideration of the new grad RN opening
in for the position in critical care.

Throughout nursing school, my focus was in critical care and with all the experience that I have
gained in that past few semesters, I feel confident in my decision of wanting to be in this
specialty. By the end of my preceptorship in the medical intensive care unit, I felt extremely
confident in taking care of a 1:1 or 2:1 patient ratio with minimal assistance from my preceptor.
I had the opportunity to participate in patient admissions, end of life care, post-surgical, rapid
responses and codes. During my preceptorship, I also dealt with deaths, and from those
experiences Ive learned from the amazing nurses on my unit how to treat death with respect and
dignity. From holding a patients hand while they take their last breaths, to supporting a grieving
wife watching her husband being given CPR, I learned the importance of taking the time to show
compassion for patients and their families during their most difficult times. Each of these
experiences and many more have shaped who am I as a nurse.

As a nurse, I am committed to providing compassionate care, creating healthy communities and

supporting health improvement. I hope to be able to use my medical background not only in the
hospital, but also within my community to help those in need around me.

A resume can show you work history and experience, but what it cannot show you is character
and personality. I would love the opportunity to meet with you to show you who I am as a
person and learn more about how I could fit into your organization. I look forward to meeting
and talking to you soon.

Sincerely,

Madison Guziak
