Introduction
Social media use really has impact on peoples sleep (Levenson, 2016). Facebook and
other social media services are all extremely popular and very widespread part of todays modern
society. At any given time of the day, millions of users are logged onto social media sites.
Seventeen million teenagers use social media and those children are five times more likely to use
alcohol and twice likely to use marijuana (Stein, 2014). It is one of the pieces of evidence that
Young adults spend just over an hour on social media every single day and visits various
social media accounts around 30 times a week. And those who were three times more likely than
others to have trouble falling asleep. Similarly, those who spent most time on social media on
daily basis were twice likely to have sleeping problems (Pittsburgh, 2016). The advent of social
media may have catalysed a fear of missing out now, it looks like it is also causing to miss out on

This study is about to investigate the relationship of sleep deprivation and social addiction
among Senior High School students of Cavite National High School. Through the adapted and
modified Bergen Social Media Addiction scale, the social media addiction will be quantified.
The study will be conducted inside the said national high school from June to October, 2017.

Hypothesis
This study will be a great help to the society specially the students. Moreover, the
Respondents. By answering the questionnaire, they will evaluate themselves and their
level of social media addiction. They will be aware about being lack of sleep and can help to
Parents. The study will help them to deal with their children. They can also assess
themselves on how to control their childrens social media addiction that causes sleep
deprivation.
Future Researchers. This will serve as their prior knowledge to other research studies
related to this. They can modify and expand the scope to deeper the knowledge about this
particular study. The relationship of sleep deprivation and social media addiction.
This study will be conducted to determine the relationship between sleep deprivation and
social media addiction among Senior High School Students of Cavite National High School. The
total chosen respondents are 30 students. A survey questionnaire will be used for gathering and
through the use of adapted and modified Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS), the
social media addiction level of the students that cause sleep deprivation will be quantified. The
