Come, all ye faithful,

joyful and triumphant

O come ye, O come ye,

to Bethlehem

Come and behold Him,

born the King of angels

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him

Christ the Lord

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee,

born this happy morning

Jesus, to Thee be all glory given

Word of the Father,

now in flesh appearing

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him

Christ the Lord

True God of true God,

Light from Light eternal

Humbly, He enters the virgins womb

Son of the Father,

begotten, not created

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him

Christ the Lord

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him

O come, let us adore Him

Christ the Lord

Come, All Ye Faithful

Glory be to God on high

Let peace on earth descend

God comes down before our eyes

To Bethlehem

God invisible appears

Endless ages wrapped in years

He has come who cannot change

And Jesus is His name

Emptied of His majesty

He comes in human form

Beings source begins to be

And God is born

All our griefs Hell gladly share

All our sins Hell fully bear

He will cover our disgrace

And suer in our place

Let the joyful news ring out

The Prince of Peace proclaim

Lift your heart and voice to shout

Immanuels name

God has kept His promises

What a work of grace this is

Son of Mary, chosen One

The Lamb of God has come

Hosanna, hosanna,

the Lamb of God has come.

Hosanna, hosanna,

He is the promised One.

(Repeat)
Glory be to God on high

Let peace on earth descend

God comes down before our eyes

To Bethlehem

Glory Be to God

Today marks the beginning of our celebration of
advent. Advent traditions celebrate the first advent of
Jesus Christ, his birth. These same celebrations view
the Christmas story in light of Gods larger plan of
salvation, looking forward to his second advent as
King. While the virgin birth of Jesus is amazing, what
Jesus did in dying on the cross for our sins is the
most incredible part of his story. We would have little
reason to celebrate apart from the saving work of
Jesus on the cross and the anticipation of his return.

The Advent candles remind us of Gods gift of life

through Jesus Christ. The four outer candles
represent the light of God reaching the world through
the birth of his son Jesus. In the center of is a fifth,
larger, candle that represents the Savior, marking his
place at the center of Gods plan.
This week we light the first advent candle. This candle
signifies hope, the hope that is Christ our Savior.
Isaiah, over 600 years prior to Christs birth,
proclaimed Gods message of hope for His people.
Isaiah 9:6-7

For to us a child is born,

to us a son is given;

and the government shall be upon his shoulder,

and his name shall be called

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and of peace

there will be no end,

on the throne of David and over his kingdom,

to establish it and to uphold it

with justice and with righteousness

from this time forth and forevermore.

The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

(ESV)
Isaiah never saw the fulfillment of his words. Now we
get to look back and read Gods fantastic promise
with the full knowledge of the story of Christmas. With
the coming of Christ and the revelation of the gospel,
the mystery of the child hidden from Isaiah has been
opened up for all to see.
Come Thou long expected Jesus,

Born to set Thy people free;

From our fears and sins release us;

Let us find our rest in Thee.

Israels Strength and Consolation,

Hope of all the earth Thou art;

Dear Desire of every nation,

Joy of every longing heart.

Joy to those who long to see Thee

Dayspring from on high appear;

Come thou promised Rod of Jesse

of Thy birth we long to hear.

Oer the hills the angels singing

news, glad tidings of a birth;

Go to Him your praises ringing

Christ the Lord has come to earth.

Come to earth to taste our sadness

He whose glories knew no end;

By His life He brings us gladness

Our Redeemer, Shepherd, Friend.

Leaving riches without number

born within a cattle stall;

This the everlasting wonder,

Christ was born the Lord of all.

Born Thy people to deliver

born a child and yet a King;

Born to reign in us forever

Now Thy gracious Kingdom bring.

By Thine own eternal Spirit

Rule in all our hearts alone;

By Thine all sucient merit

Raise us to Thy glorious throne.

How sweet the day

when Christ was born

When God Himself

took human form

He came to wash

our sins away

Our death to die,

our debt to pay

How sweet the day

when Hope appeared

The One who frees

us from our fears

He came to break

the power of sin

And give us power

to follow Him
Oh sing for joy,

lift up your voice

Let us sing for joy,

the whole earth rejoice

Let us sing for joy to the Son

For Jesus our Savior has come

How sweet the day

when Christ returns

Well see the One

for whom we yearn

Then well look full

upon His face

Our hearts will burst

with songs of praise

Oh sing for joy,

lift up your voice

Let us sing for joy,

the whole earth rejoice

Let us sing for joy to the Son

For Jesus our Savior has come

Oh sing for joy,

lift up your voice

Let us sing for joy,

the whole earth rejoice

Let us sing for joy to the Son

For Jesus our Savior has come

Come, Lord Jesus, come.

Come, Lord Jesus, come.

Come, Lord Jesus, come.

How Sweet the Day
