5 Socio Economy

One of the main objectives of this Project is to be a catalyst for rapid development of Pagoh
and surrounding area. The expected influx of more than 170,000 people to this are after the
completion of the project will contribute to the economic growth of the region as well as the
state of Johor.

The project will generate a significant number of jobs and business opportunities for the local
population as well as the migration of people seeking employment and business
opportunities.

With the project consisting of an education hub, commercial areas and mixed development,
there will be vast employment opportunities primarily for skilled and non-skilled workforce
in the tertiary education, finance and banking sector, food and beverage sector, good and
services and hotel industry. This will transform and elevate the regional economic activity
which at present is largely agriculture-based.

The average income of the local population is expected increase significantly with the
increased business opportunities from the new demand for goods and services. Consequently,
the land and buildings will also appreciate in value further benefitting the existing owners.

The increase in job opportunities as well as the possible increase in income will likely reduce
the out-migration of local residents seeking work elsewhere.
