List of Five Assessment Types

1. Performance Assessment
Delivery:
The student will present their reading passage/article/findings in front of their peers for
five minutes. During this time, students will present what there learned from this article.
During this process the student will also categorize the information into fiction and
nonfiction Using this information the student will also identify the organization type. The
student will conclude by hosting a Q&A session with his/her peers.

Rules:

-Speaks clearly and at an understandable pace.


-Maintains eye contact with audience.
-Limited use of filler words (umm, like, etc.).
-Speaker uses body language (use of hands).
-Speaker is within time limit: 5 minutes.
-Speaker is able to answer questions professionally after presentations: 2 min

2. Summative Assessment
Delivery:
This will be done at the end of the unit and assesses multiple student learning
objectives (student project). TEK 6D, E.

Research proves that by looking at real world problems and brainstorming ideas to solve them, helps
students with critical thinking. Aligned with the Comprehension of Expository Texts, analyzing
texts will help students see how informational texts might present information dierently when
trying to deliver a message or achieve a purpose.

Students will:

Take a closer look at world issues to strengthen critical thinking skills. Annotate and analyze self
selected text to deepen understanding of the topic at hand.

Look for similarities and differences across 2 texts to make inferences and draw conclusions using
the KWL chart.

Analyze literary texts to find how point of view, experiences, and evidence strengthens and or
weakens an argument or claim. Students will see how the main idea of a text can be displayed in
various ways.

Needed Materials:

3-D Poster (May be purchased from Walmart, HEB, other supply stores.

KWL Handout (maybe be drawn on the poster)

3. Formative Assessment
Delivery:
Recap is an online tool students may use to watch teacher selected video and check their
understanding through a series of questions as they watch the video. The purpose: to re-orientate
the dialogue around questions to promote deeper understanding. For the following, students will
watch the video:

Then, the video will pause and the following questions will need to be answered by the student on
Recap:

1. What is the main idea of the case you were just presented?

2. How come the other two details about Deke Malloy do not constitute as part of the main idea?

3. At the end of the video, make some inferences as to how the mystery should be solved. Evaluate
possible solutions or issue within the mystery.

4. Affective Assessment
Delivery:
Students will be able to indicate how much statements in this inventory are true for them. Some of
these statements are positive, some are negative. Decide wether each of the following is true for you.
There are no right or wrong answers, so please be Honest. Do not write your name on this paper.
Only use check marks.

1. Caffeine is a natural ingredient in coffee and may be added to some prescription and non-prescription drugs. In healthy, rested
people, a dose of 100 milligrams increases alertness, banishes drowsiness, quickens reaction time, it enhances intellectual and
muscular effort, and increases heart and respiratory rates. Drinking one to two cups of coffee an hour before exercise encourages
the body to preserve glycogen and burn fat. Caffeine is also habit-forming, and those who try to suddenly stop after heavy use
may experience such withdrawal symptoms as headaches, lethargy, irritability, and difficulty in concentrating.
