Philosophy of Education

During my journey through educational and professional development, my views on

education have evolved. As a child, I was never overly enthusiastic about school. I loved

learning, however, I often found the traditional classroom limited my creative abilities

concerning approaches in assignment completion. There are multiple perspectives, ideas, and

opinions that students bring into the classroom. There are also multiple approaches to learning,

as well as expressing content comprehension. As an aspiring history teacher, I will bring this

philosophy into my classroom.

History itself is more objective, as particular events occurred due to particular reasons.

To align my philosophy with my content, I will present the information to my class, asking for

their reactions and ideas prior to informing them of the general outcomes of an event. I do not

believe in narration teaching. I will encourage my students to participate by incorporating them

into everyday instruction. I will produce an open minded environment in my classroom, allowing

every student to feel comfortable and confident in contributing to classroom discussion. I believe

this approach will allow my students to forefront their own learning experience. As their teacher,

I aspire to act as a facilitator. I will guide my students on their individual learning journey.

As educators, it is our task to ignite the passion of continued learning. The education

system is more than competency exams. The education system prepares our students, as the

future leaders of the community, to never be idle. Passionate learning in the classroom creates

passionate learners in life. As a teacher, I will be invested in each of my students and their

passion for learning. I will encourage, support, and challenge them to reach their maximum

potential. This is not only in the subject of history, but in life. As my students learn from me, I

will also be learning from them.
