EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
AKD securities is one of the well known company. The data which we have provided in this report is on primary as well on
secondary basis. We get some information about the firm from internet and other information is gather by preparing
questionier and after conducting interview. Some limitations we faced were the time shortage to go to visit and conduct
interview there. We summarized the secondary data in our own words. The accessories we take with ourselves were the
DSLR, Note Pads, and Recorder. The interview was conducted in a respectful environment. The FOUR FUNCTIONS OF
MANAGEMENT that are describes in this report are those points which they tell they apply on their company.

INTRODUCTION OF AKD SECURITIES LTD

BRIEF OVERVIEW:
AKD securities is one of the well known securities firm in Pakistan. It provides a wide range of
investment services like equity brokerage, economic and securities research, investment banking and financial advisory
services. It was one of the first firms who introduced marketing and advertisement promotion on internet. Presently
AKD has the market share with over 6000 customers. Its target market is diversified and it includes domestic and
international institutional investors, high net worth individuals and upscale retail clients. Along with focusing on its
offerings AKD also emphasizes on its corporate social responsibility and ethics. Recently AKD securities have won six
awards. It comes under one of the fast growing firms in the service sector of Pakistan.

MISSION STATEMENT:
Enabling our customers to achieve the best investment performance through: Timely research, Rapid execution,
efficient practices, and prompt services

This mission statement of AKD securities itself is self-explanatory that AKD has always been the growing one and the
trustworthy one as it adaptive with the dynamic environment and it has created its goodwill through gaining the trust of
its investors which the consider their biggest asset and USP. AKD promises to with stand in the market and provide best
investment service as they do research and development when needed.

PLANNING:
Planning is setting of goals and allocation of resources. For AKD planning is the identification of goals and
objectives to be set and making of short and long term strategies so that the desired set of goals are achieved.
AKD emphasizes on planning a lot as it gives them a clear direction to follow so that they could always maintain
a competitive edge over their competitors and so that they could utilize their resources effectively and
efficiently.

Q. What are your short and long term goals?

According to the marketing head of AKD securities Sir Abdan and the HR head Sir Khizar the short term goals of
AKD securities is to maintain the standards of their service and build trustworthy relationships with their current
customers as AKD considers the trust of their consumers their USP and for them its very important to maintain
their USP. Furthermore another short term goal of AKD securities is to maintain peaceful and friendly
relationships with their employees as these employees are the main asset for AKD. Short term goals have always
been the priority of AKD as these short term goals have led to the long term success of AKD securities over the
years. But along with short term goals, long term goals of AKD also have immense importance and the major
long term goal of AKD is to establish themselves as the leading and most promising security firm all over the
world and AKD is successfully striving for their aim since they have established themselves as the leading
security firm of Pakistan and has won 6 awards recently.

Current planning v/s future planning perspective

Q. How does your current status and planning helps you in developing future planning perspective?

Planning is always important for any kind of business and so it is for AKD securities. The current status of AKD and the
current future planning help the HR department to analyze the future strength of AKD securities . HR head Sir Khizar
believes on an old saying that

The people about knowledge of their past history are like a tree without roots

Furthermore current planning is important for future planning as through current planning we are able to understand
the at what level of strength does the organization stands plus it also help in determining that how future planning could
be done so that the weaknesses of the organization are cured and employees are motivated further to clearer direction.
In short through analyzing current status and planning we can overcome the mistakes made before and be more
accurate in setting short term goals.

Strategic Planning
Q. How much your management is involved in strategic planning and do you believe planning is your main
strategy?

Since AKD securities is a service sector firm so its strategic planning is a little bit different from other firms which
provides goods. Its strategic planning is very much based on the quality of service and to sustain the trust of its
customers as well as employees. The marketing head of AKD security Sir Abdan believes on the philosophy that every
person in AKD securities is a leader and so the strategic planning is done accordingly through delegating responsibility
and building a friendly environment. Furthermore management of AKD securities is involved very much in strategic
planning as they have created goodwill over years and so to maintain it strategic planning is must. The recent biggest
biggest example of planning was the introduction of online stock trading as it was done to achieve its one major long
term goal of conquering the world securities market. AKDs strategy are based on synergies and individual departments
performance
ORGANIZING:
ORGANIZING in a general sense means systematic arrangement of an activity.

Q. How can you design individual jobs in most effective manner?

For the marketing head of AKD Sir Abdan, designing of Individual jobs is very important in our firm as AKD Securities
Ltd. is one of the leading securities firm in Pakistan. To pursue the goals that have been planned we have to face many
difficulties in organizing the objectives and allocation of resources is also one of the difficult task in designing individual
jobs. In job design it is necessary to allocate the resources in a way that uses the companys resources effectively. As
organizing follows planning we have to work according to what we have planned before. In his words every individual
have complete choice to select their job work so they work effectively and work in that specific time. Plus they have
freedom to give their opinions, their ideas and they are also allowed to share their point of view according to their work.
In this way our firm is decentralized. We always try our best to keep the environment friendly and never give stress to
our employees so that they do their work effectively without getting bored.

TRAINING OF AN EMPLOYEE
Q. How well human resource department play their role in the upbringing and training of employees?

We asked them as they were the first who introduce Online Stock Trading Service so how managers trained their
employees in this advancement of the technology.

According to HR manager Sir Khizer, training of every individual employee is very important if it is about skilled
employees or un-skilled employees the training is important. It was not difficult to train the employees according to the
advancement of technology. As employees performance need improvement time to time, it also improves our
companys performance. Training to our staff can result us in better work safety practice, productivity improvement.
May be our training can take our employees in a better work place. There are many difficult tasks which keeps them
motivated and fresh.
For day by day by improvement training sessions in AKD is always play an important role for this organization.

TEAMWORK AMONG EMPLOYEES:

Q. Have you encouraged teamwork among your employees?

In the opinion of Sir Abdan, teamwork plays very important role in every firm and teamwork also helps them to pursue
goals in effective manner. One would not have enough workloads on them. Everyone will do their work in given
appropriate time. In teamwork there will be more ideas than in individuals work. So, according to me teamwork in the
organization is very important in team work everyone should play their role in best way. In teamwork the environment
should be flexible and friendly so everyone can share their point of view. As AKD is growing organization, so we prefer in
teamwork to achieve our goal effectively.
LEADING:
FOR AKD LEADER STANDS FOR :

Any person that build enthusiasm in others by good communication, motivate them to work hard by different
tactics and maintain a flexible and adaptive environment to tackle different situations

Leadership style:
Q: What kind of leadership style is applied to AKD organization?

For the marketing head Sir Abdan leadership can never be centralized. Being a part of corporate sector
where each person is a leader in its own way. There are certain reasons behind this statement, as AKD is a
growing organization and mediocre organization where limited numbers of employee have not only to manage
their time and work as well as they has to come up with new ideas. Ideas in that sense as Pakistan where stock
market investors in the whole population is less than 5 % , therefore they need leader who come up with ideas
to bring awareness among the society
Motivation:
Q: What are the motivational tactics that helped organization to keep the employee motivated?

Motivation is one of the most challenging and important task of any organization, AKD is no exception.

When we asked them about their motivation tactics in term of monetary and non monetary benefits. The
answer of HR Head was:

For an artist few words of appreciation is much more worthy then hundred bucks of dollar

But their statement does not mean that monetary benefits are not necessary, because a good leader have to
keep in check their employee needs. Monetary benefits are necessary but not should be any leader basic priority
for the motivation factor.

The non monetary benefits motivations are more difficult to apply according

to HR HEAD due to different mind sets of employee. For few of the employee significance of their work is way
too important than any other thing, for few status means more than money and for few personal growth

Therefore it is a very difficult task for every department head because they have to personalize each and every
employee and have to motivate them according to it so they work harder and remain loyal to the organization.
Tackle the challenges:
Q: DOES THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE HELP THE MANAGER TO TACKLE THE SITUATION EASILY:

Their answer was due to their adaptive environment and flexibility feature, they are easy to tackle as
compare to a rigid environment system and this whole credit goes to their chairman AQEEL KARIM DHEDHI
because this is something that have been practicing in the organization from the very beginning. Whatever
conflict arise and whatever hardship they have to face they deal with it in a very peaceful manner and patiently
instead of lashing out on the employee or blaming each other because thats the time when a good leader have
to show maturity and become a example of the upcoming leaders.

Training of employee:
Q: Why are training of employee is prime motive for any leader?

As we already discuss earlier that AKD is in growing phase so it is one of the prime motive of the organization
leaders to train employee in a way that they are capable enough to give their own ideas and their inputs in
higher decision making and above of all to itself become a future leader

According to marketing head Sir Abdan training of employee is one of the essential factors in the organization
success

They held small workshop at irregular intervals to guide the employee regarding to the new technology and how
we have to make the best out of it
They become a guide for their employee to guide them regarding their market position and how they should
move forward towards their mission

Training of employee have not helped AKD in achieving success but also have help them in building enthusiasm
and bring efficiency and flexibility within the organization.

CONTROLLING:
Controlling is the forth function of management and it is basically the evaluation of the other three functions of
management and their performance. Controlling in AKD as important as for any other profit seeking firm.

Q. As this organization is so diversified so what are your basic tactics to maintain a peaceful environment
and how you evaluate the performance of all the three functions of management?

As AKD is so diversified so to maintain a peaceful and friendly environment weekly employees meeting is called in which
the HR head Sir khizar consult each and every employee personally so that their issue could be judged and solved
accordingly and this helps in creating a peaceful environment. Furthermore employees are given training on the
dynamics of stock market and team work is also encouraged.

To evaluate the performace of the three functions of management planning organizing and
leading controlling is done through comparing previous results with current results, checking the motivational levels of
employees and supervising the employees yet giving them freedom to speak their opinion.

OUR EXPERIANCE (SUMMARY)


Being only first semester students of BBA it was something that was utterly new for us. Nervous cannot be the words
that justify what we were feeling at that moment. But all our worries and nervousness was vanished by meeting SIR
ABDAN (Marketing head) and SIR KHIZAR (HR Head) . Being one of the head of such big organization they sure know how
and to make someone comfortable. It was really honor for us that they give us this opportunity to visit them and we will
always be thankful to them to give us their precious time by answering our question. By their answers and advice we
saw a glimpse of real business world and came to know about certain things which we read in our text book and how
they implement in real world. Everything we came to know there was great learning experience for us that will always
treasure in our minds. Through this report we got a better understanding and an realistic approach of the four functions
of management.AKD is surely one of the best example of application of functions of management.

We also like to thank our teacher MAM.ANUM AHMED for motivating us towards this opportunity and giving us advices
to complete this assignment

Conclusion:
This whole assignment has taught us how the text book material is interpreted in real world .we also get a clearer image
of all four function of management. The whole assignment has taught us that manager employee relation has the most
critical impact on the performance of the organization. The work of manager and employee is enter related to each
other. the more employee feel confident in the organization the more efficiency is evident in their work , therefore it
is the responsibility of the manager to make sure that employee feel confident , make them believe that their work is
significant as well as highly important to the organization. If any organization is succeed in building this kind of relation
between the employee and manager success is for sure granted.

Recommendation:
As said by the marketing head SIR.ABDAN the whole stock market share in the population of 80 million of Pakistani
is less than 5%. The reason behind this whole situation is less awareness; people are hesitant to invest in stock market
sector. So what should an organization like AKD do?

As being students the only thing we can recommend to AKD is to build trust to remove the obstacle of hesitation
because that the only factor that is stopping people from investing in this service sector.

Build a team that brings awareness among the society regarding this business and if AKD succeeded in doing that then
only sky will be limit for this organization.
