2. The diagram below represents part of an electric circuit containing three resistors. What
is the equivalent resistance of this part of the circuit?
3. A girl has 3 equal resistors each of value 6 . She has found that by connecting all of
them in series and parallel combinations she can produce several different values of their
total resistance. The only values possible are:
A. 18 , 12 , 6 , 3 , B. 18 , 9 , 4 , 2
C. 18 , 9 , 6 , 3 D. 18 , 4 , 2 , 1

4. How much heat does a lamp with a resistance of 88 give off if it is connected to a
source providing 15V for 2.5 hours? (3 marks)
5. A 240.0 and 90.0 resistor are connected in parallel with a 120V source and then

6. A 31m long extension cord made of copper is designed to carry a current of 15A. What
must be the radius of this wire if no more than 5.0V of potential decrease can be occur
when 15A of current is in this wire? (Resistivity of copper is 1.68 x 10-8 m.) (3 marks)
Reoccurring Processes: there will be 2 marks given for using the correct sig figs, units, etc. in your final
answers. There will be 0.5 marks taken off for each mistake, to a maximum of 2 marks. I will not take off
marks for sig figs on questions 2, 3.
