Marketing is one primary function of management and business, every
companies from every industry require a good marketing strategy to be able
to compete in the market. The importance of marketing takes marketing
science to develop rapidly in parallel to the market trend. To assist the

Digital and Traditional are two of primary marketing strategies that
play equally important roles. Digital marketing is an umbrella term for the
marketing products and services using digital technologies; such as internet,
display ad, mobile phone, etc. Digitalization in every segment creates a new

way to approach many goals; including how company provide services,
become more professional, and most importantly create efficient interaction
with stakeholder. Meanwhile, company still need to pay attention on some
traditional elements. Traditional marketing reflects to any kind of
conventional advertisement, marketing techniques that have been used by
companies for years, and that has proven success. Methods of traditional
marketing are usually based on offline media such as; newsletters,
billboards, newspaper, etc. The alignment of these two strategies is one of
the keys for a marketer maintain a business growing in this digital era.
A. Competition:
1. Each team consists of 3 members.
2. Each member in the team is an undergraduate student of any major
derived from the same university.
3. There are no restrictions on the number of delegates sent by each
university.
4. Each team has to make an Academic Research Paper based on the 14 th
MIST topic.
5. Registration and paper submission will be open by Thursday,
September 1 4th, 201 7 to Thursday, December 7th, 201 7
6. All of the paper which has entered the 14th MIST will become the
property of the committee.
7. Fifteen teams with the best paper will become the delegates of the

14th MIST.
8. All of the selected delegates are required to participate in the entire
events of the 14th MIST (Informal Day, Presentation Day, Seminar,
Training, Conference, and Gala Dinner).
9. For the delegates who proceed to the main competition and wish to
stay within Depok area, we will provide an accommodation package
with additional fees.
10. The winner of the 1 4 th MIST is the team that gained the highest score
based on the grading criteria.
B. Paper Submission:
1. You should make an Academic Research Paper (the structure details
will be described hereinafter).
2. Your paper should contain a literature review.
3. You can use primary and secondary data source in the writing of the
academic research paper.
4. Your paper should discuss the 14 th MIST topic Optimizing Digital -
Traditional Marketing Integration to Create a Creative and Effective
Marketing Strategy .
5. You should bring up past cases of a company or industry that you
prefer wherever in the world as long as it is related and relevant to the
topic.
6. Your research should generate new and solid result that can be
accounted for.
7. Each team is required to have a team name (can be a logo or
watermark) that is included in the front page (cover) of the paper.
8. Each team must not include name of the university in the paper, to
maintain the neutrality of the judging.
9. Paper must be made using proper grammars and format in accordance
to the structures given in the Submission Guidelines established by the
committee of the 1 4 th MIST.
10. Softcopy paper submission will be received no later than Thursday,
December 7th, 201 7 at 23.59 Western Indonesian Time (WIB) through 7
mist@mss-feui.com with following subject and title: Team Name
(space) Paper Title
11. You should submit 4 Hardcopies of your paper no later than Thursday,
December 1 4 th , 201 7 at 1 7.00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB) at the

1 . COVER AND TITLE
Cover and title page should consist of:
Title
Authors
Team name
The origin of the paper (the city where the paper was made).
The year when the paper is written.
The title page should contain the following word:

2. STATEMENT OF AUTHORSHIP
Statement of Authorship is the section where the writers state that
the paper being submitted is their own work and not a plagiarism.
Statement of Authorship should read as follows:
This paper is our own work, and all sources cited is referred
correctly.
The statement should be completed with signatures and complete
name of the authors (by all of the team members).
3. ABSTRACT
Abstract is a section which consist a brief overview about content
of the paper. it should be written no more than 100 words, followed by
some keywords that are essential to the paper.
4. TABLE OF CONTENTS
The table of contents lists all parts contained in the paper,
including page numbers. The neatness and accuracy of page numbers 10
of the table of content will be taken into account on to facilitate the
reader in reading the paper.
5. MAIN CONTENTS
I. INTRODUCTION
It is the first part of the paper, transcribing the direction of the
paper and laying out exactly what the research paper is trying to
achieve. This part generally consists of three distinct parts:
The General Presentation In this section, writers present some
background of the research topics and explain the story behind
the title, therefore the reader could understand the basis of the
research.
Purpose and the Exact Direction of the Paper This section
contains the authors objective on constructing the paper.
Writers also could place thesis statement or hypothesis here.
Literature Reviews In this part, writers look to give any
relevant information learned during literature reviews. However,
since literature reviews are time-consuming enough, we
recommend writers to explain their ideas or the overall view
after doing their literature reviews in sentences, then attached
any literature or other theoretical basis at reference part.
II. METHOD
In this section, the writers give a completely accurate
description of the equipment and the tools used for gathering the
data. Furthermore, writers must provide an explanation of how the
raw data was compiled and analyzed. the writers must provide the
raw data gathered from survey, interview, focus group discussion,
observation, etc. in the attachment section.
III. RESULTS
This section presents the results of the research that has 11
been conducted by the researcher. Writers could include table,
diagram, or graphs to present numerical data.
IV. DISCUSSION
This is where writers elaborate upon all of the discovery, and
explain what has been found, adding personal interpretations. It is
important to try to make sure that every piece of information in the
discussion is directly related to the thesis statement.
V. CONCLUSION
Contains the core and main point of the research, and
describe what can be learned or obtained from the research.
6. REFERENCE LIST
Reference list contains the entire list of the literature used in
making scientific paper. A reference list using the style of the Modern
Language Association (MLA) that the format can be seen in the public
domain.
7. APPENDIX
It is the last part and locat ed at the end of the paper, contains
things that are considered important to complement the paper, for
example, supporting reference data that is too long when inserted into
the papers section, raw survey data, or supplementary picture.

3. LAYOUT
Participants are free to design their paper, as long as it maintain s
the legibility of the paper, although paper with a good design does not
necessarily become one of the best 15 papers. The aesthetics
emphasized is the neatness and can be easily read by the committee
and the judges.
5. CHAPTER TITLE
Written on top of the paper
Given Roman numerals (i.e. I, II, III etc.) to address the chapter

Allowed to use display type if it is still readable

Font color might be adjusted to the template design, as long as it
is legible.
8. WRITING LENGTH
Abstract consists of maximum 100 words typed with single space.
The length of the scientific paper is a maximum of 60 pages (including
the cover, title page, abstract, table of contents, references, and
appendix).
9. HEADER AND FOOTER
Footnote and header writings is referred to the internationally
accepted format (i.e. MLA or Chicago Style). Delegates is allowed to
adjust the page number placement.

The 14 th MIST Marketing Seminar and Conference consist of a series event
that is compulsory for all delegates which is as follow: (the events detail to
be announced later)
1 . Paper presentation
In this session, every teams that had already passed the paper
selection will present their paper in front of the judges and other
delegates. This paper presentation will be part of the assessment to
choose the best paper. With this session, delegates are expected to
share their insight about their respective research.

2. Conference team discussion
In this session, delegates will be divided into several new teams.
Each team will discuss and analyze a case that will be given before
The 14 th MIST Marketing Conference events at the technical meeting.
The analysis should be based on a strong argument and analogous to
the Grand Theme. Each team will be accompanied with a panelist who
will give advice related to the idea the team generates. The team will
then present their idea in next session. It will be held on Thursday, 1 st
March 2018.
4. Conference (day 2)
In this session, the delegates will be working with their original
team, and presented with a controversial topic that may have various
opinion which will be debated and discussed among the teams with
the guidance of a moderator and analyzed by the panelist. With the
model similar to a Model United Nation (MUN) discussion, delegates
will be encouraged to argue amongst each other to find the best
outcome for the topic. It will be held on Friday, 2 nd March 2017 before
the awarding night.
Grading Criteria:
The winner will be judged by the following criteria:
a. Paper content (40%)
b. Presentation (35%)
c. Conference performance (20%)
d. Seminar participation (5%)
Best Conference Team award will be given to the team that has the
best idea and presentation according to the conference panelists 19
assessment
OptiMIST of The Year award will be given to the most participative and
optimistic delegate.
Additional Prizes will be given to several nominations that will be
announced at the gala dinner from the committees
