Letter of Recommendation for Employment

Student: Stallworth Alexa

(Last) (First)

My contact with this student:

I had the pleasure of working with Alexa during the Spring 2016 semester. I was her course instructor and
course co-chair for NURS 356, Foundations of Nursing Care. This course integrates the principles of
beginning medical and surgical nursing skills, theory, research, pathophysiology, and pharmacology, and
provided nursing care on both the long-term care and memory units in the Arizona Veterans Home
facility. I had the opportunity to observe Alexa in clinical practice, lecture, and development sessions,
including simulation and lab settings.

What are the applicants major strengths? Alexa is one of those students who is so clearly well-suited to
be a nurse and for whom it is a pleasure to write a letter of recommendation. There are a number of
words that I would use to describe Alexa: honest, dependable, intelligent, highly professional, dedicated,
organized, and genuine. But her most unique quality, perhaps, is her ability to know her strengths and
also be genuinely humble: she will make an excellent nurse because she always seeks to improve her
performance, is a really good listener, and takes criticism constructively. Alexa is very mature for her age
and brings a great deal of work and life experience to nursing for an undergraduate student. That
experience has served her well in terms of her communication and teamwork skills and most important, in
terms of her ability to provide a caring presence to the patients and families she cares for.

What is your overall evaluation of this student compared with others at the same level in your program?
Alexa stands out as a leader in her class and in her competency, level of maturity, and demonstrated
commitment to nursing. I highly recommend Alexa for any entry level nursing position and have full
confidence that she will be a true asset to any organization she joins. Feel free to contact me if you have
any questions.
