EQ: How do mental cognition, muscle memory, and dexterity affect ones precision when s/he
is required to use fine motor skills to complete a task?
Start response with answer to essential question....answer in bold black
I. Essential Question:

In your response, you need to include the following:

Explain what mental cognition is and how ones precision can be directly affected if one is
mentally impaired.

Explain what muscle memory is and how it may affect ones precision in completing a task.

Explain how dexterity may affect ones precision in completing a task.

(Original)
Mental cognition, muscle memory, and dexterity affect ones precision when required to
use fine motor skills to complete a task. Mental cognition is a signal that the brain sends
to your body to complete a task. Muscle memory is utilizing your muscles by completing
a task over and over again. By the brain sending these messages over and over again
your muscles remember it. Dexterity may affect one's precision by making a certain
muscle not usable i.e. arthritis.

II. Lab Application:

1a. Identify which task you demonstrated the most precision in when completing using your
dominant hand and support your response using data and video evidence.

The task I had the most precision in was cutting the slips of paper. This was because I
am typically good at cutting paper into small strips and doing it effectively and quickly.

1b. Create a gif for this task.

2a. Identify which task you demonstrated the least precision in when completing using your
dominant hand and support your response using data and video evidence.

The task I completed with the least amount of precision was tracing the objects. This was because I was
more focused on completing the paper to do a lot of shapes, which resulted in bad traces overall. This
gave me a lower score then I couldve gotten.

2b. Create a gif for this task.
