As a student teacher, I meet many challenges in my teaching and

learning. I have to be confident and professional in achieving goals in teaching

skills and developing my teaching abilities. Therefore, during my teaching

practice this semester I set three Personal Development Plan (PDP) goals to

achieve in public school. These goals are improving my classroom management

for misbehavior students, apply child-centered learning approach in public

school in order to help children be independent in choosing their activities and

learning, and help shy students to participate and involve in my classroom.

PDP Goals:

Goal 1: Improve my classroom management to control misbehavior

students.

I chose this goal because I want to control student's behavior during

classroom activities or carpet time. I have an issue on controlling children's

behavior, especially in government schools. I want to improve this area which

is considered as a big challenge for me in teaching because that affect my

planning for the lessons, impact my time management and distract my teaching.

I will take some actions to achieve this goal. I will start with identifying the

cause of each student's misbehavior. Being consider of applying effective

reward system. Also, I have to give misbehavior students physical activities

with establishing positive expectations to make their self-steam high. Also, I

will set rules for the classroom to keep students on track and have children to

know them by repeating the rules every day. Moreover, I will make sure to plan

each activity with smooth transitions from one event to another.

Also, to achieve this goal, I might have a support from my MST. I will

ask for her advice about how to manage student's behavior as she is well known

to her students. Moreover, I can search on the internet or read books about how

to manage children's misbehavior. I plan to achieve this goal in the whole time

of teaching practice. I think with some students I might achieve this goal faster,

so they will not take whole teaching practice time. I will provide an evidence

of the success of actions by taking a photo of reward system which displays the

improvement of misbehavior students, taking notes about their behavior

progress and provide MST and MCT feedbacks.

Goal 2: Apply child-centered learning approach in public schools.

I will apply child-centered learning approach in public schools in order

to help children be independent in choosing their activities and learning. I want

to develop my teaching style and decrease teacher's directions. Also, I want

students to be able to enrich their basic skills like problem-solving,

communication skills, and critical thinking skills. To achieve this action, I will

design the child-centered activities and apply them on the learning area in the

classroom, apply child-centered activities every day for example, and, engage

them to choose their activities.

I can have a support to achieve the goal. I can search on the internet or

read books about how to apply child-centered approach for learning. Besides

that, I can ask my MST her about how to make learning centers effective to

meet students' needs or observe other teachers who used this approach in

learning. I plan to accomplish the goal the whole time of teaching practice. I

will apply this approach every day to let children feel it as their daily routine.

Hamda Saghaiyr H00272763

I will provide an evidence of the success of actions by taking photos, reflections

in my lesson plans and provide MST feedbacks.

Goal 3: Help shy students to participate and involve in the classroom

activities.

My goal is to help them develop their performance, be confident and be

a risk taker. Also, involve them in the class activities especially group

activities. To achieve this action, I will start to let the child \children do the

activity with one student, then with two students after that with the group. I

will make sure to provide a discussion of these activities to help him talk and

build relationships. I think this action will help shy students to start interact ing

with others step by step.

To get support to achieve my goal, I can search on the internet or read

books about how to engage the shy students in the classroom activities. Ask my

MST about how she deals with shy students and discuss with her their issue.

Also, I can ask my colleagues about their effective strategies that they used. I

will collect evidence about the success of the action by Taking photos and notes

about their progress in communication skills and provide my MST feedbacks.

Conclusion

To conclude, PDP goals is considered as an organizing plan for the

teacher to achieve her goals. It helps the teacher to be a confident, professional

and successful teacher.
