From: William Smith Subject: Article Summaries: MOBILE TECHNOLOGY and Transformative Tech Regarding your request for information on new technology and its impact on businesses, I have put together a brief overview of two articles: Transformative Tech: A Disruptive Year Ahead and Mobile Technology: Evolutions and Trends for Career Resources, Searches, and Networking. These articles addressed how technology will affect management and human resources in the former and the organizational hiring process in the latter. Article Purposes How Should Organizations React to Changing Tech? Thanks to mobile phones, the digital marketplace has a variety of applications and tools to monitor, manage, and engage with employees in an unprecedented manner. Organizations are taking advantage of those available applications to allow for greater success in several functions. Analytics: The field of people analytics has grown exponentially, and information regarding workers schedules, habits, emails, and feedback can now be collected and used to decrease absences, combat fraud, decrease workplace accidents and boost innovation. Oracle, Workday, and Cornerstone are just a couple of software examples capable of providing predictive models for employee activity. (Pankratz, p. 59) Performance: With advances in analytics, information about specific employee data can be utilized to respond to employee needs and shortcomings with specific case insight rather than company policy. This means that management decisions can now be tailored to specific employees, as the same management tactics do not work for everybody. Evaluation: The behavior of employees with new technology provides a greater insight into how company time is spent. Surveying workers for feedback is also critical in not just evaluating their output, but also their opinions and conditions in the workplace. Implementation of proper worker feedback with performance tools is guaranteed to boost output. Training: Companies are now beginning to utilize learning platforms such as Workday Learning and Fuse Universal to provide video learning experiences to employees. These kinds of programs help make workplace learning a straight forward and data-driven approach to learning new skills. (Pankratz, p. 60) Hiring: Networking tools like LinkedIn and people2people have transformed the hiring process for organizations and job-seekers. Twice as many applications are now being submitted via mobile applications as opposed to standard methods. With more and more people researching and applying for a job on mobile phones, considering applications to help with the hiring process is an attractive quality for businesses. (Bersin, p. 29) Conclusion The bottom line is that technology and social networking have changed the way that businesses and organizations operate at a systemic level. Many applications and programs are available to maximize management potential and employee output. To not take advantage of them is to fall behind. Works Cited Bersin, Josh.
