Infantry refers to the foot soldiers of the Indian Army. They are the main
oensive team. Infantry is also called the Queen of the force. Its named after
specic regions and tribes of various regions. Like The Madras, Bihar, J & K
Ries, Assam Ries, Marathas, Gorkhas, Kumaons, Dogras, Garhwal, Rajput etc.
Infantry does the primary attacking and capture/holding of land.

Armoured refers to the mud Corps. They consist of tanks and other armoured
vehicles. There are no foot soldiers. Men move with armoured vehicles to
provide additional re support to the infantry. In an open battle eld, armoured
corps provide cover to infantry. They are quick and very oensive, but being on
wheels, they cannot hold the land like infantry.

Artillery constitute the big guns. They don't go into the battleeld. They ght
the war outside the arena. They provide cover re with big guns with ranges
upto 5060 kms and high elevation. This can shatter enemy defences and buy

The infantry regiment or units are basically meant for war at front, they are the
real ghters of indian army. Infantry regiments are posted at loc throughout the
year for basically 3 years and one thing is also that in infantry whether you are
soldier or ocer you get promotion early than armoured or other corps services
like Aec. Arty etc.

The armoured regiment is meant for battling with tanks especially they wear
black dress and they are the perfect masters of tank.

While artillery is also known as gunners or sarvatra at various places, the basic
work of artillery is ghting with latest ammunation like buorce, latest
equipments like ries lmg etc.

Hope ssomehow I have clear your basic dierence bw these essential arms of our
country.

All three are Combat Arms. Infantry is the arm which physically ghts for
occupation of particular area of operation/tactical/strategic value or denies it to
the enemy. Both Artillery and Armoured Regiments are in support of the
Infantry.

Artillery have long, medium & short range Mortars, guns and also are equipped
with Rockets. These are meant to bombard an area where enemy is there
(infantry, mechanized infantry, armoured vehicles, artillery) or some
area/dumps or part of logistics chain which are very essential to the enemy to
carry out the act of war or an ensuing battle.

Armoured Regiments are equipped with tanks which have guns tted to the
turret of the tank for eective re against the enemy tanks, embankment,
infantry defences etc. Most of the small arms are ineective against these tanks.
They in tandem are also employed to defensive purpose.
