INTRODUCTION
Lataston or asphat concrete thin layer is kind of flexible pavement method.
Flexible pavement itself is pavement construction that commonly use the asphalt
mixture material as surface thin layer and grained material as the layer below it.
In this workshop Lataston consists of 30% coarse aggregates, 53,2% fine
aggregates, 8,9% portland cement (PC) as the filler, and 7,9% asphalt. In every
single mixing the total weight of the whole material is 100 kg. The Lataston mixture
is laid 5 cm thick and compacted untill 3 cm thick. The diameter of broken stone as
coarse aggregate is 10 mm and filling sand as the fine aggregate.

APPARTUS AND MATERIALS
1. Elbow Steel
Elbow steel is used as the boundaries of the asphalt concrete area (Also used
as the formwork).
2. AMP
2
4. Asphalt Sprayer
Asphalt sprayer is a stuff used for making the layer of tack coat.
5. LPG
The wood is used as the fuel for boiling asphalt in the drum.
3
7. Fuel
8. Asphalt
9. Bucket
The bucket can is used for moving the asphalt mixture from AMP to the
work area.
4
10. Watering Can
Grading wood is kind of wood with specific criteria used for grading the
asphalt layer.
The weight measure is used for weighing coarse aggregates, fine aggregates
, filler, PC, and asphalt liquid as the design planned.
5
13. Large Speck Tub
The large speck tub is used for accomodating the asphalt mixture from
AMP.
14. APAR
APAR is fire estinguisher that has to be there in every asphalt boiling process
to anticipate the emergency situation that may happen while the boiling process.
15. Broom
Broom is used for cleaning the work area before layering the asphalt mixture.
6
16. Glove
17. 10 mm Sieve
The only gravels size used in Lataston is 10 mm so the sieve is used for
selecting the gravels size.
The loading cart is used for the material mobilitation from the quarry to the
AMP.

CHAPTER IV
PROCEDURES
1. The fine and coarse aggregates used in the Lataston mixture were shieved.
2. The fine aggregate, coarse aggregate and PC as the filler were weighed
based on the design planned.
3. The tack coat mixture was made with the equivalent 1 : 4 of solar and
asphalt.
8
4. The tack coat was sprayed on the working area 0,5 ltr/m2.
5. The working area was cleaned from dust and leaves using the broom.
6. The solar was layered to the surface of Lataston stuffs so these wouldnt
get sticky while the process.
9
7. The asphalt was boiled in the drum.
8. The Lataston mixture which had been prepared was put into the AMP.
9. The Lataston mixture was processed while boiling the another mixture in
the AMP.
10
10. The liquid asphalt was wighed to the 7,9 kg.
11. The asphalt liquid that had been weighed was added into the AMP until it
reached 150oC.
12. The lataston mixture was moved out from AMP to speck tub.
11
13. The lataston mixture was moved from the speck tub to large speck tub.
14. The large speck tub was closed to make Lataston mixture stay in the
spesific temperatue.
15. The elbow steel which was arranged in line with both of road edges was
used as the formwork.
12
16. The Lataston mixture was layered to the working area.
17. The Lataston was graded using the grading wood to the 5 cm thick.
18. The Lataston layer was compacted using the baby roller to 3 cm thick.
19. The gravels as the boundaries were added as the finishing process.

CHAPTER V
CLOSING
5.1 Discussion
All of the student should wear the safety stuffs because the workshop was
very dangerous.
In this workshop student must be very carefull while treating the hot asphalt
mixture and using the stuffs.
The whole progression cant be delayed to create good mixtures.
5.2 Conclusion
In this workshop student can know the Lataston method and the
implemantation of Lataston as kind of flexible pavement method.
