Behavior therefore, is a response when there is a stimulus. What is stimulus. It is something

that stirs your senses. So we have different kinds of response
Emotional response- answers what you feel?
Rational response- answers what you think at the moment?
Motor response- answers what act have you done?

Page 54

What behaviorists think is= it is possible to exercise control over human behavior through
conditioning the environment you are into.
Example. An environment of war. People are all fearless and aggressive because it is already a
pattern on them. They are already used to it. They behave that way because it is needed and should be
adapted for survival unlike people who live peacefully and then suddenly there is war, then their
response is fear because having war is not a scenario that patterns their environment and which they
themselves are not used to.

Inherent capabilities/Faculties:
1. Knowing: involve the external senses. Our common senses.
2. Appetitive- involving emotions and will. Emotion is something that depends on the
senses. Will on the other hand is dependent on the intellectual knowledge.
We have:
1. Material man(body)- which senses and emotions belongs because it involves
external implications.
2. Spiritual man(soul)- intellect and will belongs because it involves internal
realizations.
man becomes human when he acts intelligently and he knows how to administer his freedom
- Therefore, man knows good and bad. With freedom, he can choose between the two with
consideration of his own conscience to be able to answer and be responsible on every action he
chooses.

Standards- to be short, it is a level that is being set to be achieved and be acceptable. Below the
level being set, is not acceptable; higher than is highly acceptable.

We have also standards by objectives- means a level being set for a purpose:
1. As a person: able to be responsible for ones act
2. As a social being: able to influence good behavior
3. As a spiritual being: able to act morally with values.
Role of culture
-filipino culture:
- immoral when fitting outfits are used
-visiting bars is prohibited by religious parents
-Changing Filipino culture:
- knowledge of sex is incorporated early years on a mans life like sex education for the
people saw its need.
Its role is to influence the ethical and social values of the people within the society as it provides
alteration of the peoples behavior when they are more exposed to the environment of the culture as a
whole.
