SPIPS AT 6TH GALLONS TROPHY

ANTICOAGULANT COUMADIN CLINIC

St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Hanamkonda, in association with In-


dian Pharmaceutical Association Hanamkonda branch and ISPOR Telangana regional
chapter organized A workshop on Anticoagulation-Coumadin Clinic for Pharmacy
Practice Students on January 7-9, 2015, at St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sci-
ences, Hanamkonda, Telangana State, India.

The work shop was inaugurated by Dr. M. Chandra Sekar, Professor of Pharmacy,
University of Findlay, Findlay, OH, USA in the presence of DrRaoVadlamudi, Direc-
tor St. Peters and President, IPA, Dr. Scott Gier, Director of Pharmacy, Wyandot Hos-
pital, Upper Sandusky, OH, USA, Mr. T. Jayapal Reddy, Chairman, St. Peters Insti-
tute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and President, IPA Hanamkonda Local branch and Dr.
Suresh Bandari, Principal, St. Peters and Secretary, IPA Hanamkonda branch.
On day 1, Prof. M. Chandra Sekar, accentuated the importance of anticoagulation-
Coumadin Clinic and explained the anticoagulation process and the importance of
monitoring the INR (international normalized ratio) values. In the afternoon session,
Dr. R. Srinivas, senior cardiologist, Srinivasa Cardiac Centre presented a talk on Atrial
Fibrillation and Physicians perspective on the use of anticoagulants

On day 2, Dr. Scott Gier, made his presence laudable and very informative through his
session on Warfarin Genetics with special focus on assessment and monitoring of INR
values, treatment and complications of anticoagulants. Dr. C. Mamatha Reddy, Cardi-
ologist from Rohini Super Specialty Hospital provided the students with insights of
anticoagulation with patient case studies. Later in the day Dr. Gier determined the INR
values of few more patients and made students to learn how to use the CoaguChek in-
strument under his supervision.

On day 3, Dr. Sekar and Dr. Gier explained and discussed about how a Coumadin
clinic can be initiated in Hanamkonda with the support of cardiologists and made
students learn with mock trials and c
ase studies to understand the concepts of anticoagulation and Coumadin clinic.
Dr. RaoVadlamudi, Mr. T. Jayapal Reddy, Dr. Suresh Bandari and other faculty fe-
licitated the speakers and cardiologists who took part in this 3-day workshop. Dr. K.
Venkateshwarlu, Assistant professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice proposed the
vote of thanks. The workshop ended with lots of joy and happiness expressed by

VISIT BY BRITISH DEPUTY HIGH COMMISSION TO St. PETERs


Representatives of British Deputy High Commission have visited St. Peters Institute
of Pharmaceutical Sciences on January 20th 2015 and had active interaction with Head
of Departments, Principal, Chairman and Director of the college. Dr. RaoVadlamudi,
Director, St. Peters gave insights of education and research happening in the college.
Mr. Jayapal Reddy, Chairman, stressed upon the assets of St. Peters. Representatives
took a quick walk across the campus keenly looking the facilities and infrastructure.
Dr. Suresh Bandari, Principal explained the representatives about the equipments, re-
search and drug development process. They were delighted to learn many new things
about pharma.

INVITED LECTURE SERIES 2015


Invited lectures on Innovations, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics in Drug Dis-
covery were held in St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vidyanagar, Ha-
namkonda, on Jan 27, 2015, under the auspices
of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association Ha-
namkonda Local Branch. Dr. Dennis H. Gi-
esing, Chief Scientific Officer, TARIS Bio-
medical, USA and Dr. PurnanandSarma, Presi-
dent and CEO, TARIS Biomedical, USA
graced the ocassion.

While addressing the gathering, Dr. Purnanand-


Sarma in his session explained how they have in-
vested, invented and marketed a device to deliver a
drug to overcome pain involved in Urinary Inter-
stitial Cystitis that reduces the pain and trauma to
the patients remarkably. Taris has engineered a de-
vice to deliver lidocaine to suppress the severe
pain due to lesions in urinary bladder. The inven-
tion is a combination of material science and os-
motic drug delivery to release the drug in to the
urinary bladder for prolonged periods.

making the students understand the dos and
donts in design of drug delivery systems with
the help of profound knowledge in the field of
Pharmacokinetics

Dr. RaoVadlamudi, President, Indian Pharma-


ceutical Association and Director, St. Peters has shared his happiness in organizing
such sessions at St. Peters, which would make students to develop entrepreneurship
qualities and in thinking beyond the box. Mr. T. Jayapal Reddy has promised the stu-
dents to bring such kind of sessions into reality in future also. Mr. P. Rajasekhar, Princi-
pal-in-charge thanked the speakers for spending their valuable time at St. Peters. At
the end of sessions the management and faculty felicitated the speakers.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS BY B.PHARMACY STUDENTS


B. Pharm first year students made poster presentations on January 30th 2015 at St. Peters.
The posters were on the Pharmaceutical subject, Dosage forms. Thestudents emphasized
on the topics like Types of dosage forms and their sub-types with pictorial representation
and samples of few of them. All the students were given exposure to the posters and stu-
dents interacted with fellow students and faculty.

RELAUNCH OF IPA SF St.PETERs STUDENT CHAPTER

The students of St. Peter's Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences relaunched the IPA-
SF St. Peter's Student Chapter under the aegis of IPA Hanamkonda Local Branch for
the year 2015-16. Student Chapter has four committees, Public Health, Public Rela-
tions, Pharmacy Education and Editorial Board. Together all four committees would
strive to conduct several activities during coming year to enhance the value of the
profession of pharmacy both in academic world and in the society.

It was initially embarked the IPA-SF student Chapter in the year 2012-13 with the
patronage of IPA Hanamkonda Local Branch and on the 13th of February 2015 there
was a jump start of IPA-SF, St. Peters Student Chapter for the year 2015-16 with the
same determinant element and an alliance of more dexterous and versatile capabili-
ties.
At the relaunch event, the main dignitaries; Mr. T. Jayapal Reddy, Chairman of St. Pe-
ters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and President, IPA Hanamkonda Local
Branch; Dr. RaoVadlamudi, Director of St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences
and President, Indian Pharmaceutical Association and Dr. Suresh Bandari, Principal, St.
Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Secretary, IPA Hanamkonda Local
Branch addressed and motivated the students. Mr. Munawar Ali, Student Exchange Of-
ficer, IPA-SF and Ms. AnushaRao, Hon. Jt. Secretary, IPA-SF were the cardinal repre-
sentatives of the event.

INVITED LECTURE SESSION ON ALLERGY AWARENESS

Dr. VyakarnamNageshwar, Allergist and Pulmonologist, speak onAwareness on Al-


lergy at St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences on Feb 20, 2015 under the aus-
pices of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) Hanamkonda Local Branch and
the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) In-
dia Telangana Chapter. The session was aimed to provide awareness and better under-
standing on Allergy for Pharm. D. graduating students. Dr. Vyakarnam gave an elabo-
rate talk in which he clearly stressed about the ways of identifying the allergy, common
types of allergy and the mechanisms involved in the development of the disease in a lu-
cid way. He mentioned the need to educate the community regarding the concepts and
misconceptions on allergy. He also emphasized that Pharm.D. Students should capture
all the available opportunities so that they can play avital role in the health care system
along with doctors. After the session the students were given a live demonstration of
assessment of respiratory functioning using a digital spirometer in patients. Highly en-
thused students interacted with Dr. Vyakarnam and appreciated the efforts of the organ-
izers for conducting such a useful session.

SEMINAR ON ASPECTS OF E-MAIL COMMUNICATION

The IPA-SF Student Chapter has organized a seminar on Aspects of effective Commu-
nication on 25th of February in St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences. It was
the very first activity of the council and a when there is a phenomenal speaker like Dr.
Rao ruling the session, it have to be a triumph.

The specific objectives of the seminar were:


The basics of e-mail writing.
Creating an official email.
Good E-mailing practices.
Familiarizing the participants about professional E-mail writing.
Developing skills on Effective E-mail writing.
The seminar constituted a good opportunity to foster the networking among one another
through E-mail. It met the objectives in promoting awareness of effective communica-
tion through E-mail. Following very active and lively session students assured them-
selves to follow the proper process of E-mailing.
The council took the privilege in honoring Dr. Rao for his valuable and beneficial talk
for the students and presented him a framed photograph of his live session.
After all, Professionalism is consistency of quality, a frame of mind not a paycheck.

HEUREX 2015
The Inter College Pharma Fest, organized by IPA-SF St. Peters Student Chapter in as-
sociation with St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences was a 3 day event from
4th -7th of March. It was an open invitation to all the 35 colleges in Warangal that offers
pharmacy education.
The fest embraced cultural activities like dancing and singing competitions, educational
intrigue of Pharma Quiz and a musical night featuring voices of the Telangana, Dinker-
kalvala, Raghu ram and Anjanasoumya. The chief guest was a greatpoliti-
cian;DasyamVinayBhaskar garu.

As the name reads HEUREUX-2015, it was the same, undoubtedly very felicitous
event.
The dancing and singing competitions
were convoked on 4th of February which
were a tremendous amusement. As sched-
uled we had a pharma quiz which was so
compelling that went on from morning till
the evening of 5th February. The partici-
pants from the St. Peters Institute of
Pharmaceutical Sciences and various col-
leges profoundly enjoyed the cultural
conspire.
The Musical Night began on 7th of Feb at
7:00 p.m. with a prayer dance followed
by the opening ceremony then we had a
fall of the musical venture until the chief
guest arrived. We also had a unique no-
tion of audio visual depicting the mes-
sages from the alumni of St. Peters.

The chief guest arrived after a while where after there was the launch of the official
identity of IPA-SF St. Peters Student Chapter and along with that also the launch of IS-
POR-Telangana chapter, which was followed by the prize distribution and felicitation of
chief guest.

Thereafter we had some more entertainment from the singers and some stupendous
dance performances by the students of St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The singers were felicitated at the end of the musical night and last but not the least
there was a huge contemption of DJ for all the audience and faculty of St. Peters
Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Though it took not more than a week to organize, it came out to be a tremendous suc-
cess and was published in many of local newspapers about the triumph of the event.

INVITED LECTURE SERIES

As a part of Invited Lecture Series, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Pediatrician and Professor of
Kakatiya Medical College had interaction with students of Pharm. D regarding
"Prescription patterns for Pediatrics and adults on March 22 2015. He discussed about
the dosage variations amongst the pediatrics and geriatrics and gave information re-
garding the diseased conditions that are more prone in these age groups. He interacted
with the students and attended their queries regarding the prescription patterns.
The lecture was very useful and cleared the vision of students regarding the difference
pediatrics and geriatrics variations.
Dr. Kumar was felicitated by Dr. Bandari, Principal, St. Peters and the session was
ended with much grace.

AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ON TUBERCULOSIS ON WORLD T.B. DAY

The World Health days are always the most prudent instance to educate the unedu-
cated, to spread the awareness, to care for people in need. Its called making use of
these benevolent days to its maximum. The
Tuberculosis Day is one such day when we
can make people aware of this endemic dis-
ease.
The IPA-SF St. Peters Student Chapter was
in a wait of 24th March,2015 The World
T.B Day to make people immensely benefit
out of it. The Student Chapter in association
with the St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceu-
tical and NSS, National Service Scheme
(Ministry of youth affairs and sports, New
Delhi) had set up a camp in a quite under-
developed area in the Warangal city to
spread awareness about Tuberculosis dis-
ease.

The area targeted was accommodating population of around 500 people in about 100
houses.
The camp had inculcated a pre-assessment point where in the general public was allowed
to answer a few questions regarding their knowledge about T.B and they were also as-
sessed vitally in weight and height parameters.

Thereon, people were directed to the poster presentation on the basic information about
the risk factors, causative agents, signs & symptoms, preventive measures and the nearby
govt. based DOTS centers for the treatment on the onset of the disease.
Later, the people gave the post-assessment questionnaire on what all they were educated
about T.B through posters.
Meanwhile, the volunteers of student chapter visited the houses and shops in that area and
gave them basic information about T.B and made a survey out of it.
The response of people was enormous even in a short duration.

AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ON FOOD SAFETY

On the occasion of World Health Day on 7th April 2015 The Indian Pharmaceutical
Association Students Forum St. Peters Student Chapter Under the aegis of IPA- Ha-
namkonda Branch in association with Hanamkonda Walkers Association has organ-
ized an Awareness campaign on Food Safety and enlightened with the flipbook of
Diet and Health at Public Gardens , Hanamkonda. Dr. Suresh Bandari , Secretary ,
IPA Hanamkonda Branch and Principal , St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sci-
ences, Mr.Munawar Ali , Asst. Professor of St. Peters ; Mr. Sangram , Asst. Professor;
Mr.P.Srinivas rao , Asst. Professor , Ms. Anu Rao Mentor ,IPA-SF St. Peters Student
Chapter were also present throughout the campaign.

The volunteers took the initiation to bring the awareness about the four steps for food
safety: Clean, Separate, Cook and Chill. The awareness medium chosen were charts,
posters and a flipbook of diet, nutrioncharts. Dr.Raghuram, Orthopedic Surgeon, MGM
Hospital, Dr. T. Sanjay , Chief Neurosurgeon, Rohini Hospital, Dr. B. Jagadesh Babu,
Psychiatrist and Dr. Naresh, General Physician have elaborated regarding generic medi-
cine, exercise for healthy body, nutrition diet and depression. About 170 people were
participated. The people were very enthusiastic about the nutrition diet and expressed

SEMINAR ON C.V. WRITING

The IPA-SF Student Chapter has organized a seminar on "tips to polish your resume, "to
learn portraying how marketable we are" on 24th of April in St. Peters Institute of Phar-
maceutical Sciences. One more interactive
workshop by Dr. Rao after the phenomenal

The seminar constituted a good opportunity to foster the professionalism among the

into the world. Following very active and lively session students assured themselves to
follow the proper process of C.V. writing.
Besides, the seminar the council took the date as a good opportunity to celebrate the
student's all-time favourite speaker and motivator, DR. Rao which was a bashing birth-
day surprise with the handmade present of his memories in photographs by the council
and the cake cutting ceremony.

GRADUATION DAY ( 2007-14 )

The first batch of St. Peters institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences to pass out a six
year Pharm. D course, the Class of 2008-2014, with all the proud and delighted heart
had their graduation day on 25th April 2015. The batch, known to be Heralds, to be
a harbinger of something remarkable was finally going to prelude the world.

The sumptuous event was inaugurated by Prof. MV RangaRao, Incharge Registrar,


Kakatiya University,Dr. RaoVadlamudi, Director, St. Peter's and President, Indian
Pharmaceutical Association; Mr. T. Jayapal Reddy, Chairman, St. Peter's; Dr. Buchi
Reddy, Chairman, Rohini Hospital; Dr. Sudhakar Reddy, Superintendent, Rohini Hos-
pitals; Prof. Y. Narsimha Reddy, Principal, UCPSC, Kakatiya University and Dr.
Suresh Bandari, Principal, St. Peters by lightening the lamp.

Dr. Bandari presented with a welcome note for the guests and the students and the con-
vocation ceremony began.
The management of St. Peters and the guests recognized the full worth of the Pharm.
D course and appreciated the students. Dr. Vadlamudi illuminated the students saying,
You should be the Change. Mr. Jaypalreddy persuaded the students advising, Never
look down, I want my students to reach greater heights. Dr. Buchi Reddy acknowl-
edged the students and said, there will be good treatement patterns with only Pharm
D graduate. Likewise Prof. Y. Narsimha Reddy, Dr. Sudhakar Reddy and Dr. MV
RangaRaocongratulated the students wished them a good luck for their career in
choice.

IPSF WORLD CONGRESS 2015

61st IPSF World Congress - Hyderabad, IndiaEncompassing


API to Formulation - Process, Quality & Economics

The World Congress was the momentous activity of the International Pharmaceutical
Students Federation. It was the biggest annual gathering of pharmacy students across
the world at one place. Its a 10 day event held in a different country every year,
where, Presidents of International Pharmaceutical Students Associations, pharmacy
students and professionals from nearly 85 countries participate. It serves as a platform
to discuss issues related to the field of pharmacy globally, which can help in attaining
unification of the pharmacy education across the globe.
For the first time, the 61st IPSF world congress was held in India, at Mariott Hotel,
Hyderabad.

The students of St. Peters attended the 2 day congress that encompassed the
Educational Symposium- Bridging Gaps in Current Pharmacy Education and
Scientific Symposium- Catalyzing Innovation in Manufacturing and Delivery of Phar-
maceutical Products.

Ms. Sangam Kamala, student of St.Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences has


bagged 1st prize in Poster Presentation by competing with 170 delegates. In this con-
nection Ms. Kamala Sangam was awarded with a Memento and certificate.

The symposia was followed by the musical night for all the students of congress.

FIP CONGRESS

International Pharmaceutial Federation Congress was held in Dusseldorf, Germany in


October, 2015.
Dr. RaoVadlamudi, Director, St. Peter's and President, Indian Pharmaceutical Associa-
tion; Ms. AnushaRao, Hon. Jt. Secretary at Indian Pharmaceutical Association Students'
Forum and Public Health Committee Member at 61st IPSF World Congress and Ms.
Mrudula Naidu, Former Chair at International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) were
the correspondents from St. Peters. They interacted with Dr. CaramenPena , FIP Presi-
dent; Dr. Henri Manasse; Prof. T. K. Ravi and few more elite personalities likewise.

54th NATIONAL PHARMACY WEEK CAMPAIGN

The IPA SF St. Peters Student Chapter in association with NSS has organized a cam-
paign at the Hanamkonda Bus Station entitling the theme of NPW 2015, 'Responsible
Use of Antibiotics Saves Lifes'.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. B. Suresh Lal, Co-ordinator, NSS; T. Surender
Reddy, Customer Relations Manager, Hanamkonda and Warangal Bus Station and Dr.
Suresh Bandari, Principal, St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The students lively interacted with the
public and explained them briefly about
few areas like the misuse of Antibiotic,
Bacterial resistance, Do's and Don't's
when consuming Antibiotics and with
the help of Pictorial representation. The
campaign was getting crowded and the
public has shown quite good response
in getting aware of the very commonly
prescribed medicines these days.

WORLD PATIENT SAFETY DAY

On the occasion of "World Patient's Safety Day" the Pharm D students of St. Peters
Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in association with IPA SF St.Peters Student
chapter under the aegis of IPA Hanamkonda Branch and NSS has carried out a cam-
paign in the Public garden, Hanamkonda and escorted the general public to the preva-
lent safety measures for the patients.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Suresh Bandari, Principal, St. Peters Institute of
Pharmaceutical Sciences, Secretary, IPA Hanamkonda Branch, President, ISPOR-
India, Telangana State Chapter and Dr. Omprakash, NeuroSurgeon, Rohini Hospi-
talMr. G.Gopal Reddy, Walks person, Public garden,Hanamkonda; and Mr. Mogaliya,
Yoga instructor, followed by the speeches of the cheif guests.

The camp comprised of poster presentations by students taking in consideration of pa-


tient's consumption of alcohol, smoking, junk food, first aid and various other topics.
The public gathered and interacted with the guests and the students.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS

B. PHARM 3RD YEAR


The students of B. Pharm 3rd year have executed a poster presentation in the college
premises of St. Peters on 14th November 2015. The event was inaugurated by Dr.
Suresh Bandari.
The students actively participated in the event and interacted with the fellow stu-

The students of B. Pharm 2nd year executed poster presentations in the premises of St.
Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences on 28th November 2015 as a part of co-
curricular activities.
All the other students of B. Pharm and Pharm D. batches were given exposure and the
presenters interacted with the other students and were evaluated by the faculty of St. Pe-

INTERNATIONAL PHARMACEUTICAL STUDENT EXCHANGE


PROGRAMME

The students have been visiting St. Peters from various countries like Portugal, Nether-
lands, Hungary, Spain, Belgrade in past years. It was the first time to get students ex-
changed with U.S.A in 2015.
Students of Pharm. D from Findlay University, USA have visited St. Peter's.
Ms.Allison McFerran, Mr.Timothy Finlayson, Ms.Alicia DiAntonio and Mr.Jordan
Wanner from Findlay University, Ohio, United States of America have visited
St.Peter's to carry out their internship (PharmD VI Yr.) from 19th July to 30th July
2015 under Student Exchange Program. Prof.M Chandra Sekhar, Findlay University
has accompanied the team. The program was being inaugurated by Prof.RangaRao,
Registrar, Kakatiya University.
During their visit the students have been through pharmacy sessions in the laboratories,
explored the treatment panel in the Hospital and interacted with the Doctors and Fac-
ulty & Pharm. D students of the St. Peters.

In the exchange program, four students of Pharma D. VI year from St. Peters
AnushaBompelli, AmulyaBoyana, Kamala Sangam and ManjariBodasu received
invitations from the University of Findlay to visit their institution during October,
2015 and have visited the Findlay from October 8 th to October 20th. During their visit,
the students have been under the training for health care providers, have attended the
classes, community pharmacy sessions, used the laboratories in the institution and
studied various treatment methods in their hospital and explored the city with awe.

PARTICIPATION IN ISPOR - US INVITE

Student of St.peters Mr.Mriganka Pal, a PharmD Internee received an invitation from


International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcome Research (ISPOR), 505
Lawrence Square Blvd South, Lawrenceville, NJ-08648to attend ISPOR21st Annual
International Meeting which will be held from 21-25th May, 2016 at Washington Hil-
ton, DC, USA.
Mr.Mriganka Pal was the only student who has been invited by ISPOR from India for
podium presentation on 23rd May 2016 on a global event where 2500 delegates from
over 132 countries attended the meeting and out if 1800 Poster presentations only 4
were selected for podium presentation. Further, Mr.Mriganka Pal is invited for a poster
(Code: PHS61) presentation on Awareness and Impact of International Normalized
Ratio Monitoring in On-going Anticoagulation Therapy in Cardiac Patients.

PARTICIPATION IN ISPOR SINGAPORE

On the occasion of ISPOR 7th Asia Pacific conference at Singapore five of PharmD
VI yr. students Mr.Mriganka Pal, Ms.ErraboinaManeesha, Ms.Sharon,
Ms.ChaitraChenna and Ms.Aymen Fatima have received invitations from Interna-
tional Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) which was
held from 3rd to 6th September, 2016 at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition
Center, Singapore. Ms.Aymen Fatima has been awarded with Travel Grant of USD
1100 from ISPOR.

ISPOR 1st CONVENTION OF ISPOR INDIA TELANGANA CHAPTER

First convention of ISPOR India Telangana Chapter was held on 25th of January 2016
in St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPIPS) in association with SPIPS
and Rohini Super Speciality Hospitals Hanamkonda, Warangal, with the theme
Concept and Role of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research in Health Care
under the supervision of ISPOR committee members. An invited lecture was delivered
by Prof. M. Chandra Sekar, Professor, USA; Dr.Meghana V. Aruru , Associate Profes-
sor, U.S.F.D.A Consultant; Dr.Pradeepmuragundi, MCOPS, Manipal, and for the first
time SKYPE session was organized by SPIPS and the presentation was delivered by
Dr. Gregory Reardon, Associate Professor from USA.
The ISPOR organizing committee and speakers addressed students and faculty and
provided a deeper insight in to various aspects of the Role of Pharmacoeconomics in
the Health Care System. ISPOR accentuated the change of regulatory scenario in India
in the near future and also brought to light the effective growth in the field of pharma-
coeconomics and Outcomes research. More than 1000 student delegates from various
Pharmacy colleges participated in the event and among them 400 students delivered
poster presentations. The program was inaugurated and organized by Sri. T. Jayapal
Reddy, Chairman, SPIPS; Dr.RaoVadlamudi, Director, SPIPS; Dr. Suresh Bandari,
Principal, SPIPS and faculty members.

CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

On the occasion of World Cancer Day i.e. Feb 4th St.Peter s Institute of Pharmaceuti-
cal Sciences in association with IPA- SFStudents Chapter Hanamkonda branch , Ro-
hini Super Speciality hospitals in collaboration with National ServicesSchemes has
organised a cancer awareness program at different maincentres in hanamkonda
Warangal . In Rohini super specialty hospital program was inaugurated by Dr. Sud-
hakar reddy, superintendent of Rohini superspeciality hospitals. In TMC Centre it was
inaugurated by Dr. Bucchi Reddy and nearTirumala Tirupati Devastanam it was inau-
gurated by Dr. Ajay, general physician.
Students,, professors, nurses have actively participated in enlightening the general
public about what is cancer , how is it caused , what are the symptoms ,what are the
precautions to be taken to prevent cancer . The main theme is we can I canto fight
against cancer. Campaign mainly highlights about things causing cancer like smoking,
alcohol and food that can prevent cancer .The information was provided to around
300 people through innovativeplacards, slogans, charts, eco-friendly flex and pam-
phlets. People have shown great interest enthusiasm to know about cancer, how to
know the early symptoms to consult a doctor and how to prevent cancer. They have
asked many questions and were answered by the students and doctors present in the
campaign.

Dr.Shravan Kumar, MD & DM, Head, Dept. of Gastroenterolgy, Gandhi Hospital,
Hyderabad has given a lecture on Chronic Pancreatitis at St.Peters Institute of
Pharmaceutical Sciences, Hanamkonda on 23rd June 2016. The lecture was given
through power point presentation and students of PharmD and students who were on
a visit from Findlay University have attended the session. The session was focused
on Etiopathogenesis and Pharmacotherapy of Chronic Pancreatitis.
Dr. Shravan provided an explanation which included his experience in diagnosis and
treatment approaches. The session has given extensive information on different pan-
creatitis seen in India where alcohol consumption, genetic forms and diet plays a vi-
tal role in the development of disease. He also gave in detail the diagnostic ap-
proaches where the disease can be identified through which further treatment pro-
vided. New advanced medications and diagnostic techniques in treating different
chronic pancreatitis was explained with the digital X-Ray, USG scan , ERCP and
MRCP images.

BLOOD GROPUP IDENTIFICATION CAMP

St. Peters Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences has organized a Blood Group Identi-
fication Camp in coordination with IPA Students Chapter, Hanamkonda Branch and
NSS in KU Physical Education ground on 24 th of June 2016. The students of
Findlay University and St. Peters have initiated the program. Ms. Chelsea
Mooney, Ms. Melanie lowers, Ms.MriyanNaboulsi along with Professor Dr. Chandra
shekar, Principal Dr. Suresh Bandari, NSS coordinator Mr.Venumadhav,
Asst.Professor Mr. Rajeev Ms.E.Priyanka and faculty actively took part in this
camp. About 150 Morning walkers and students of the university participated in
knowing their blood group. Blood groups were identified in a Pharmaceutical man-
ner and were recorded for future emergencies.

TRUST-VIVEKANANDA ABHVASA KENDRA

St Peters institute of pharmaceutical sciences students of B. Pharmacy IV yr., along


with In-Charge Principal Dr.Rajeshri, Principal-in-Charge, Dr.Rajasekhar, Associate
Professor, Sri B Raju, Sri Rajiv and Sri Sandeep, Associate Professors along with non-
teaching staff have visited Sri Sai Trust - Vivekananda Abhyasa Kendra, Near Wadde-
palli, Hanamkondaon 9th of March 2017 and arranged lunch to all the Orphan students
and old men and women. They also distributed Fruits and Clothes. Students assured to
the Trust that they would visit weekly once and give lessons to motivate the students.

MEDICAL CAMP ON THYROID DISEASES

St.Peter's Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences has conducted Medical camp on Thyroid


disease on 13th June 2017 at Kamanpur in Karimnagar District. Pharm D Students of
St.Peter's Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Association with Indian Pharmaceuti-
cal Association, Hanamkonda Local Branch and NSS have organised a medical Camp
to provide awareness on Thyroid disease and its consequences. About 400 patients at-
tended the camp. District Medical Health Officer, Chief Health Officer have distributed
Medicines at free of cost to the patients. The camp was conducted by Srija, Aswini,
Omkar, Sabitha, Kavya, Kranthi and Rakesh lead by Dr. V. Mahender Reddy, HOD.
Students have explained the patients regarding the health problems like Obesity, Hair
falling, Constipation, Infertility, Amnesia caused by thyroid disorder.

FREE MEDICAL CAMP FOR MENTALLY & PHYSICALLY


CHALLENGED PEOPLE

St.Peter's Institute of Pharmaceutical sciences", Hanamkonda has conducted a free


medical camp at House of Joy, Fathimanagar, Kazipeton 13 th of April 2017.
Dr.RamuVodithela -Physiotherapist, Dr.Puli Anil Kumar -Ayurveda Physician have
conducted medical tests to the patients and prescribed medicines. Accordingly, the
students along with staff have distributed the medicines to the patients. Sri B A Sri-
mohan, Proprietor of Srinivasa Service Station, near NIT has sponsored the medi-
cines. Also, the Office of DMHO has given sufficient medicines for free distribu-
tion. About 200 patients were given free medicines. Sri NayiniRajender Reddy,
DCC President has visited the camp and donated Rs.5000/- (Rupees Five thousand
only) for the camp to purchase and distribution of medicines and food forthe pa-
tients. Dr.Rajasekhar, Principal along Mr.VenuMadhav -NSS Coordinator of
St.Peter's and other staff members along with 40 students have participated and or-
ganized the free medical camp.
