SUBJECT: Proposal for the College Experiences Wiki Page

Purpose
The purpose of our proposal is to request authorization to create a wiki with sources that will
help TCC students in their college experience.

Summary
The following proposal was conducted to present a guide to students in college and going into
college. It will consist of lessons and sites to help students with their studying, time management,
health, and other services to that students will need help finding. The wiki will present those four
categories: study habits, time management, health, and some TCC sources.

Introduction
On October 4, 2017 our professor Dr. Mary French had assigned us to create a questionnaire
based on what we decided our topic to be. As a group our questionnaire turned out to be about
the College experience here at TCC, and the best course of action used to create a guide for
students to better manage their hectic lives. Based on our questionnaire students need help in
these areas.
Study Habits- this section will show students where they should study and what
people they study with for assignments.
Time Management- this will consist of ways to better organize your time for
school, work, and other outside work.
Health- this section will help you to diet better, have more energy, and why it
would be better to eat properly.
TCC Sources (To use) - this section will be used to help students figure out what
sources they can use to accomplish their goals.
With this it will be easier to help guide students for the best course of action they feel they need
to take to better themselves.
Proposal to Dr. French -2- November 14, 2017

Proposed Guide
With Dr. Frenchs approval, we would perform the following four guides to help TCC students
with their college experience.

Guide 1. Study Habits

When it comes to the study habits students have they tend to procrastinate or pack on too much.
All of this information can be crammed and easily forgotten when you're too busy studying for
multiple classes all within the same time frame. Things in your environment can also play a huge
role in how effective your studying is towards your grades. This page will provide links and
information on how things like location, music, and studying with others can help with your
studying.

Guide 2. Time Management

We will be discussing the values of time management of managing your time effectively also,
explain how to set goals and set deadlines in fact delegation of responsibilities, prioritizing task,
and effective planning. Also, being organized and explain what you should not do like misuse
time in fact and not waste time. With this in mind we are going to discuss about how to regain
your focus back and come up with a valet answer whenever your mind begins to wonder off to
wonder land.

Guide 3. Health
Many parents who have college students living at home and working, worry that their children
are not eating correctly. This is the case because most of the time with all the school and work
and what not the kids have no time to be healthy, or eat properly. With this in mind lets discuss
ways to help students evolve and be able to do a lot and still feel good about their bodies. One
simple way is as stated to many students who start out in college is time management. At TCC
we have a fitness center, something students can take advantage of to keep their bodies in shape.
Another thing is start regulating your meals find time between classes to eat proper, the things
students should focus on for energy is things like-
Nuts (fiber)
Fruit (vitamins and other nutrients)
Meats (for protein)
Spices (make it more edible)
Bread (Whole Grain)
These things can help students lead a healthier diet and along with exercise at least 30-90min a
day could make a student more alterative in classes, and feel more energetic, and less tired.
Overall eating right and exercise on a regular basis could overall help students better their time
management, study habits, and also raise their GPA.

Guide 4. TCC Sources

We have already begun our research by interviewing Colleen Fitzpatrick, the Coordinator of
Supplemental Instruction at Trinity River campus, who emphasized that students who attend
more than ten SI sessions and regularly tend to have a half or one letter grade higher than the
students who do not attend. Also, Tarrant County College offers other sources that help students
academic performance, such as the Discovery Center, Writing and Learning Center, Computer

Lab, Speech Lab, Science Learning Center, and other departments. Most of the research we
studied falls into locations, accessibilities, facts, and benefits.
