Over the period of this class I learned how to incorporate the use of technical writing
styles as well as improve my writing using student learning outcomes (SLOs). Documents that I
wrote over the course of this class demonstrate my usage and knowledge of the required SLOs.
This cover letter shows evidence of how each SLO was accomplished in my resume and group
charter.
My resume satisfies the SLOs of rhetorical focus, language and design, organization, and
through the use of concise and understandable wording. I was able to persuade my audience that
I would be fit for the job as a photography manager. I did so by stating my skills, such as
photography, editing, and design, and providing past evidence of how those skills were
and achievements. Each section is clearly stated and has purpose in accordance to the section
title, showing organization and focus. Academic language and design is shown as I used formal
The SLOs that are satisfied in my group charter are ethical research and collaboration. In
my charter, I provided examples of how our group would stay organized and communicate with
one another. For these examples, I provide sources which prove that the methods mentioned
would be beneficial to our group, which satisfy ethical research. Collaboration is shown
throughout the document as the charter was divided and written by the four members in my
group. Although the charter was written by four people, the language is consistent and concise.
My portfolio shows that I was able to master the use of SLOs for this course. My resume
shows how I was able to better understand formating in a document through the use of white
space and structure. In the future, I will be able to use my portfolio to demonstrate these SLOs as
help improve myself as a writer by looking back on these past documents. I believe that I must
inclusive of all audiences. Reviewing my portfolio will encourage me when writing future
documents.
