Synopsis : This course investigates the major theoretical constructs of personal growth and development of
university students and how they make meaning of their experiences. The course explores
development theories that offer insight into the processes of student learning and growth. Through
case studies and hand-on activities, the course examines how students make meaning of themselves
(intrapersonal), other people (intrapersonal), and the world around them (cognitive). The course
provides a framework and understanding when working with tertiary education students. Special
consideration will be placed toward how these models can be applied and utilized within higher
education in the 21st century.
