he Company LCM ITALIA, which is part of CHERO group, was estab-
lished in 1986. It is a leading company in the design and production of
ball valves for oil, chemical, petrochemical, pipeline, natural gas and
water industries, off-shores and in-shore plants all over the world.
The Company management is composed of technicians who have gained
many years of experience in the field of the ball valves. The company has
achieved a good reputation during the years as one of most important and
specialized Italian companies in the construction of ball valves suitable for
heaviest requirements.
The first aim of LCM ITALIA is to provide products and services that meet
the needs of our customers at a reasonable price. All valves must reflect the
highest quality standards, where design, development, manufacturing and
testing are obligatory passages.
LCM ITALIA is always engaged in the research of technical innovations to
the standard production range. This is achieved by means of the latest com-
puterized design systems and the testing of each solution to any problem of
valve employment.
The organisation and flexibility of the company allow prompt answer to any
customers request in order to satisfy every requirements and a large stock
availability of ball valve components can also comply with short delivery

The constant control during all process phases, according to the specific

LCM ITALIA production range includes ball valves from DN 1/4 to 24, Class
ANSI 150 to 2500 Lbs Full or Reduced bore in any kind of material. The con-
struction systems are Split bolted body, Screwed body and Wafer type,
Floating ball or Trunnion supported ball, soft seat and metal to metal seat, in
accordance with the most stringent international rules.
All LCM ITALIA ball valves are tested and supplied with certified test reports,
which include chemical and mechanical properties and the hydrostatic-
pneumatic pressure test.

DESIGN
Floating ball valves are manufactured in five main types:
Two pieces bolted body type SB220 T/R
Screwed Body type HD 200 T/R-HD 215 T/R-EB 263 T/R
EB 275 T/R-WN 250 T/R
Three pieces bolted body type HD 350 T/R-WN 355T/R
End Entry type EE 100 R only class ANSI 150 Lbs reduced bore.
Wafer type WF 421 T class ANSI 150 full bore.
Ball valves can be supplied full or reduced bore, designed for maximum rigidity
against pipeline thrust, made from hot forged components or barstock.
Bolted and screwed body constructions allow easy service and maintenance
operation on site.
End connections are SW or NPT for series HD and EB, FF-RF-RTJ-BW for SB
series.
Pressure rating is from class ANSI 150 up to ANSI 2500 Lbs.
Valves are usually supplied with lever operator, with gear box or bare stem on
customer request.
MATERIALS SELECTION
Valves have been designed for use with various combinations of materials such
as: Carbon Steel, Low Carbon Steel, Special Alloy, Bronze/Alluminium, Duplex
and Super Duplex, 6mo, Monel, Inconel, Hastelloy, Titanium etc.
SEAT
Valves are designed to guarantee a perfect seal by means of suitable materials of
seat also for high pressure applications.
For hight temperature application, seats and ball are supplied with metal to
metal contact by means of tungsten carbide overlay.

STEM
Stem is made separately from the ball, anti blow-up design with suitable PTFE
ring, OR in viton, graphite rings and antistatic device. On request stem can be
also supplied with extension for special applications or insulation.
BALL
Solid type is usually made in Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel ENP, Special Alloy
and with tungsten carbide overly for metal to metal service.
TESTS
All valves are tested in accordance with BS 6755 part. 1, API 6D, API 598,
MSS-SP-61 and ASME B 16.104.
EXTERNAL COATING
Carbon Steel valves are usually protected with phosfatinzing for series HD and
WN, zinc plated (th. 7-12 ) for series SB, EB, EE.
Valves can be also supplied unpainted or with special coats finishing according
to customer request.
ACCESSORIES
Drain plug, locking devices, transition pieces (pipe ends), extended bonnet for
underground installation, gearbox, electric, pneumatic or hydraulic actuators
where foreseen by our standard design.

DESIGN
LCM trunnion mounted ball valves are manufactured to satisfy all the control services
of fluids. Side entry two or three pieces bolted construction simplify field service and
maintenance without removing the valve from the pipeline site.
Trunnion ball valves can also be available with body fully welded.
They are built in accordance with latest design specifications of API 6D and wall thick-
ness complies with ASME B 16.34.
All valves are available in full or reduced bore. End connections can be FF-RF-RTJ-BW.
Pressure rating is from class ANSI 150 to ANSI 2500 Lbs.
Valves are usually supplied with lever, gear box, actuator or bare stem on customer
request.
MATERIALS SELECTION
Choosing carefully the basic materials and relevant components, ball valves can be
used at different pressure and temperature for many applications.
Standard base materials are: Carbon Steel, Low Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel,
Special Alloy, Duplex and Super Duplex, 6mo, Monel, Inconel, Hastelloy, Titanium etc.
BODY-CLOSURE
They are usually made from forged rings which can guarantee perfect body sealing.
Seal between body and closures is obtained by double sealing components: O-Ring
and graphite gaskets in order to insure safe body sealing even in case of fire.
The bolted joint is strong and rigid to resist against pipeline compression and bending
moment.
SEAT SEAL
Independent floating seats with preloaded springs energized by line pressure are
always in contact with the ball and can guarantee a perfect seal of the valve, even in
case of low differential pressure. Furthermore the seat to ball contact increases as well
as the line pressure does, while when in closed position an excess pressure in the
body cavity is automatically relieved. The replaceable seat rings with soft seal insert
made with suitable material for any temperature, pressure and medium conditions.
For very high temperature services, sealing is guaranteed by metal to metal seat by
means of tungsten carbide metal-spry coating on ball and seal rings. From NB 6 and
over, the sealant injection system is available on request for restoring the sealing
integrity in the event of damage of soft seal.

STEM
The stem is made separately from the ball, anti blow-up design. Pressure thrust against
the stem is supported by a DU-DRY ring that reduces the friction between stem and ball.
Stem sealing is obtained using O-Ring and graphite gaskets that can be easily
replaced with the ball in closed position under line pressure. The stem can also be
replaced by dismounting the gland flange. From NB 2 and over, stem can be
equipped with emergency grease fitting. It is possible to supply valves with stem
extention for underground installation or insulation.
BALL
It is usually made from forged piece in Stainless Steel up to NB 2, Carbon Steel ENP,
Stainless Steel or Special Alloy from NB 3 and spherical surfaces are lapped.
Trunnion mounted ball minimises the operating torque and reduces wear of seat seal.
TESTS
All valves are tested in accordance with BS 6755 part 1, API 6D, API 598, MSS-SP-61.
NDE can be carried out on customer request.
EXTERNAL COATING
Standard external finishing for carbon steel valves is by inorganic zinc primer, but
valves can be also supplied unpainted or with special paint finishing in according to
customer request.
ACCESSORIES
Drain, bleeder and vent connections, double piston effect, locking devices, transition
pieces (pipe ends) for butt welding ends, extended bonnet for underground installation,
gearbox, electrical or pneumatic or hydraulic actuators.
