Characteristics of lessons
What activities are completed in assembly? Sing the national anthem.
Short speech either the principle or the assistant
principle.
What activities are completed in circle time? Discussion activities, counting forwards with Billy
bear, phonics games and matching cards.
How are transitions managed? The teacher clapped her hand twice, then the
children immediately responded to her by
clapping their hand too and looking at her.
What corners are available? Reading corner and math corners.
What activities are run in each of these corners? Literacy corner: Stories activities. Students can
choose a story and read. Then they can do some
activities such as ( classify the characters of the
story, retell the story, create a poster)
Math corners: counting activities, addition and
subtraction activities.
Art Drawing activity; painting activity and craft
activity such as create a cow using plastic cup.
How are corners organised? Between each corner there is a space and each
corner has materials and a carpet. Before each
lesson stated the teacher provided each corner
with the activities.
What activities are completed in circle time 2? Wrapping activities (students reflected of their
work and stated what activity they enjoyed that
most and they have learned.
What activities are completed in snack time/ Students played with each other such as running
outside play? competition and climbing in the spider
playground.

Please ask your MST for a copy of the yearly plan. Also ask for a copy of any curriculum documents
which are provided to support teachers (eg. course books).
Teachers dont have a yearly plan, they just have a weekly plan.
