 KNOWLEDGE: THE COMPLEMENT OF WISDOM

Every person in the world have characteristics that make he/she who
is. Like everything there are good and bad characteristics. Some bad
characteristics are lying, disobeying, and in general what make us be
sinners. Then there are good characteristics as wisdom and
knowledge. These two looks as they are the same and even both are
characteristics of a person, but are different in their meaning, in how
a person can get it, and how are shown each one.

Their meaning as words is different. The meaning of wisdom in

the American Dictionary says: Understanding of what is true, right or
lasting and as second meaning Common sense; good judgment. In
the other side, the meaning of knowledge says: Familiarity,
awareness, or understanding gained through study. As common
meaning wisdom is the result of experience and knowledge the result
of studying. By this we can see that knowledge is the complement of
wisdom because we learn the basic human being and about God with
wisdom. Watching this we can see how different the words are, even
when many times are used as the same.

Also, how a person can get each one is different. As we have seen,
wisdom comes from understanding the basic human beings, this can
be reach with experience and how much maturity each person has,
thats why every person in the world as keeps growing up can reach
more and more wisdom Or at least that is what world says. We can
learn from the Bible that wisdom comes from knowing and learning
more about God and be more like Him, and as we are Gods image
that is not impossible. Knowledge can be reach by studying and
understanding. Is different to hear than to understand. When we only
hear something but without understanding we can easily forget it, but
when we understand and study it after hearing we can got a new
knowledge. With all this we can see how different is to get each one.

How wisdom and knowledge are shown can be different. One

example from wisdom and knowledge in Bible is when king Solomon
asks for them, wisdom is the most important gift we are given by God.
Solomon was called by God to do a big job at a young age. He knew
that he needed help in knowing how to be a good King and take good
care of the kingdom. Solomon could have asked God for money or
material possessions but instead, he asked God for wisdom. He asked
God for understanding and help in knowing right and wrong. Because
Solomon asked for this very important gift, God blessed him with it
and become a successful king.

While wisdom and knowledge are characteristics of a person,

they are different in the meaning of the words, the way a person can
get it, and how a person show them. Wisdom is the result of experience
and knowledge the result of studying and each one complements the
other. By knowing and learning about God we can get wisdom. Once
Charles Spurgeon say: Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know
is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater
fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to
know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom, and this is what we
got to learn.
