A. Preparatory Activities

Recall

Checking of homework about reality and fantasy.

Motivation

Ask:

1. Are superheroes real or fantasy? Why?


2. Who is your favorite superhero? Describe him/her.

Unlocking of Difficulties

Arrange the jumbled letters to form a word. Use the given


meanings as clues.

Presentation

1. Brainstorming and raising up of questions

(After reading, have the class answer the Learned portion of
KWL.)

Analysis and Discussion

1. Asking and answering questions through Interview

Begin by asking questions holding an improvised microphone


and roaming around the room and acting like a reporter to look
for somebody who will answers the questions. The one who
answer the question will continue the game.

a. Where did the author base the spiderman 3?


b. What happened to spiderman when his suit changed?
c. Who are the two most feared villains?
d. What is the greatest battle of Peter?
e. In the latter part of the story, what lesson did spiderman
learn?

Answers:
a. Spiderman 3 was based on the legendary Manuel comics
series.
b. Under the influence of the suit Peter became prideful.
c. The two most feared villains are sandman and Venom.
d. Peters greatest battle is the one within himself.
e. Spiderman learned forgiveness.
(The teacher ask the pupils to read the all the sentences and tell
whether it really happened in the movie)
2. The teacher will ask questions to elicit pupils opinion on each
sentence.

Examples:
a. Do you believe in spiderman? Why?
b. What do you think about the suit of spiderman?
c. What can you say about sandman and venom?
d. For you, is it right to have battle within yourself? Why?
e. What is forgiveness to you?

3. Ask: When I asked you to tell what you think or believe about
the subject, what did you give me? [Opinion] When you gave
your answer to the questions based on the story, did you still
give your opinion?

Generalization

1. What are facts?

Facts are statement that can be proven true or false. It is


something that exists or has happened.

2. What are opinions?

Opinions are statements that tell what people think or


believe. Sometimes words and phrases like I think, I
believe, it seems probably, always, never, might, mote,
most, best, all and none signal an opinion.

C. Post Activities
Application

Read each statement. Write fact next to each statement that tells
fact about the movie Spiderman. Write opinion next to each
statement that expresses an opinion.

1. Spider man was the most beautiful movie Ive seen.


2. Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson are sweethearts.
3. Sam Raimi is the director of Spiderman 3.
4. Forgiveness always sets me free.
5. I believe Peter Parker managed a balance between his
devotion
to Mary Jane Watson and his duties as a super hero.
Enrichment Activity

1. Group the pupils into four and give each an activity card.
Read the story. Six sentences are facts. Two are opinions.

2. Say: Write the facts and then the opinion.

Long ago, books were written by the hands. That was probably a
very difficult and tiring job. Handwritten books were expensive. In 1440,
type was invited. Each letter was a separate block. The blocks were
combined to make words. Soon many books were printed from type. Some
people believe that a very old hand written book is more beautiful than a
printed book.

fifteen years ago.
5. Filipino people live in the Philippines.

V. Assignment

Write a paragraph about your school. Use fact or opinion. Be ready to


present this in class.
