Competency 007: The teacher understands and applies principles and strategies for communicating

Teachers should use their communication skills and understand curriculum and ideas that they are
teaching. They should be able to demonstrate and teach to an ability where students understand.
Teachers should be able to give examples and use their abilities to reach the students attention. Also
provide effective communication techniques and question students so they will use their thinking skills.

Competency 008: The teacher provides appropriate instruction that actively engages students in the
learning process.

Summary:

Explains how the teacher should teach past the test, but still teach the criteria to help the students pass
it. Teachers should do a great job to get the students involved and give good instructions. The teacher
should work with the students who are struggling in the classroom. Help motivate the students with
internal and external motivation to get them to want to learn. Use different techniques with each
student to help them use their best abilities.

Competency 011: The teacher understands the importance of family involvement in childrens education
and knows how to interact and communicate effectively with families.

Summary:

It covers how the teacher should communicate with the students parents. The parents play a major role
in a students success. Therefore, the teachers need to persuade parents to be involved in their
childrens education. Teachers should be able to know how to handle students parents and be able to
communicate with them. The teachers need to share information and have conferences with parents to
explain how their children are doing in class.

Competency 012: The teacher enhances professional knowledge and skills by effectively interacting with
other members of the educational community and participating in various types of professional
activities.

Summary:

Teachers should be able to understand to take their job professionally. Knowing how to interact with
other teachers and learn from one another. Help improve their teaching skills by learning from other
teachers and reach goals that they have set as a school. Use resources to address professional
development needs and understand their roles and responsibilities in their job. Participate and get
involved in school activities.

Competency 013: The teacher understands and adheres to legal and ethical requirements for educators
and is knowledgeable of the structure of education in Texas.

Summary:

Explains the teachers requirements that an educator should know. The teachers should know the
students rights and their own. Applying policies and procedures explaining the rights as an educator in
Texas. Knowing to follow procedures for maintaining accurate student records. Knowing ethical
requirements and the use of education.
