INTRODUCTION

This instruction manual is intended for operation and main-

tenance of the hydraulic winch pLant.
rt is thereby important t,hat the manuar is made availabre for
the operation- and naj-ntenance crew.

we have in course of preparation of this rnanuar tried to make

it as representative as possj_ble for the hydraulic plant.
However, due to the continous development, of our constructions
and some clients special requirements you rnay find that some
of the instructions are made in general terrn! and will
possibly diverge frorn the plant in detail.

We recommend to check the table of content if you have

probLems to find specific information as you may find
references to other sections in the manual

Instructions from our subsuppliers are normally made in

general terms and we have chosen t,o put these in section 3
( "Operating instructions'' ). (Ex. el.motors).

THE HYDRAULICPUMPSAND MOTORS
HYDRAULIC
PUMPS
The pump is the driving force of the hydraulic transmission
(see<Principle and manner of functioningD). The driving
mechanicalenergy is alteredto hydraulic energy by means
of the pump. The size of the driving energy dependon the
desiredspeedand power for the hydraulic motor (the
winch). For hydraulic transmissions, gear pumps, piston
pumps! screw pumps and vane pumps of different types can Fig. 2
be used.

Fig. 1 is showing a vane pump (simplex type). Fig. 2 is showing a double vane pump (duplex type).
The pump consistsofa pump housing I and a rotor 2. In This pump has two rotors on the sameshaft rotating in
the rotor, grooves for the vane 3 are milled. At the inner separatehousings.
edgesofthe vane grooves are the pressurechamber 4. By means of this type of pump tl-lehydraulic motor can get
From the pressureside ofthe vane holes are drilled through two speedranges. However, generally it is used in plants
the rotor to this chamber4. with more than one winch in the samectcuit, and for
winches having different size.
When installation of the pump, care must be taken to erect
with the greatestprecision, as misalignment can cause
break down of the pump. (See also mounting instructions).

The motor is driven part of the hydraulic transmission(see

and all surfacesare ground. The vaneshave a clearanceof
abt. 0,03 mm from each ond.
From the bottorn of the presswe chambers, holes are drilled
diametrically through the rotor, and into these holes steel
pins are placed to guide the vanes in piace. Total clearance
betweenvanesand and spaceofpump housing is abt. 0,1
mm when the pump is new. By wearing of the pump, this
clearancecan be up to 0,2 mm without having great
influence on the oil delivery.
The pumps are tested and run in at the factory; it may,
however, be favourable to run the pump without load for
sometime, so that impurities which might be left from the
pipe installation can be collected in the filter. The filter Fig.4
should therefore be cleanedoften in the early running
period.
Noises during running of the pump, may come from Fig.3 showsa vanemotorwith one speedrangeand
abnormal wear of vanes and pump house. In most cases, Fig.4 shows one with threespeedranges.

Combined Safety and By Pass Valve

Principleof operation:
As a safetyvalve:
As describedon the previouspage(valve 17 closed).
As a By PassValve:
A pipe fittedwith valve 17 is connectedbetweenan oil port
