Tracking is separating students by academic ability into groups for all subjects or certain classes and
curriculum within a school. In academic tracking, the entire school population is assigned to classes according
to whether students over-all achievement is above average, normal or below average students attend academic
classes only which student whose overall academic achievement is the same as their own.
Tracking is usually criticized as a mechanism for social and cultural reproduction, evidence from the
literature shows a significant effect of early tracking on social inequality some studies also show that early
tracking has a negative effect on the probability of completing higher education.
We will conduct this study because we want to know whats the effect of academic tracking to their
performances in their classes, and whats the impact to their behavior, and does it motivates the students to
study harder. This research will explain well the things what academic influence on students effort, motivation
and self-efficacy.
In CICS if you are a 3rd year student the faculty conduct an enlistment every end of semester to those
who are willing to enroll the different tracks of the department. There are 3 kinds of tracks. Web track,
Multimedia and programming track. We will conduct and administer this study at CICS department CSU Carig
campus, Tuguegarao City. The aim of these study is to know the advantages and disadvantages of academic
tracking in a student. We hope that this study will help the student who are difficult to understand what is
academic tracking is all about. This study is also tracking the influence of academic tracking in a student if it
really helps the student in enrolling. We consider as one of the effects of tracking the studies of studies of
students is that they can easily find a job/work. After they graduated, many company is in need of those position
that is reliable to your chosen track or course. Information and technology is one of in-demand course because
our world now is all about technology. In our everyday lives. We use technology to make our work easier and
faster. We observed that the students usually chose the tracks they want because they know that they have the
potential to succeed which plays a big role on their decision as to which track they would chose.


Generally, the study aimed to determine what academic tracking influenced students.
Specifically, it sought to:

1. Explains how academic tracking influenced

a. Students Effort
b. Motivation
c. Self-Efficacy
2. Explains the different effects of academic tracking in student.
3. Determine the most influenced by academic tracking, if it is student effort, motivation and self-efficacy
4. To know which tracks are the best.
The students is highly significant in academic trackings effort, motivation and self-efficacy. Measuring
the effect of tracks to the student performance. The finding of study will help to determine if they really
like their tracks. This study on the academic tracking of 3rd year students in Cagayan State University is
hope to give benefit to the following:

Guidance Counselor and Faculty Members

This will provide information on the students tracking which will be their basis to perform their tasks
with confidence and responsiveness to meet individual students and problems.

Who are interested in the educational performance of their students and who are tending to hold their
children to become good influence to other students.
The result of the study will remind them of their duties and responsibilities like giving more guidance and

The outcome of the study will provide them an assessment on how will they be able to adjust
environment and seek necessary assistance for them to realized the importance of developing and maintaining a
sound emotional, psychological and social being.

This study will be significant to future researcher who may undertake the study.


This study is focuses on the academic tracking influence on students effort, motivation and self-
efficacy. Start in asking the students how they found their tracks. The study is only limited with the
provided information. Data needed were gathered and analyzed especially in dealing with the different
transaction with regards to students. It is designed to organized large databases which contains students
who are enrolled in the said track. This concern on the computerization of some manual output into a
computerized one, but the researchers will make it into a computerized need output.


The following terms are hereby defined to have a better or clearer view of the study.
GUIDANCE COUNSELING- The guidance and counselling of students is an integral component of the
educational mission of the school. Guidance and counselling services and programs promote the
personal/social, educational, and career development of all students.

ASSESTMENT- the term assessment refers to the wide variety of methods or tools that educators use to
evaluate, measure, and document the academic readiness, learning progress, skill acquisition, or educational
needs of students.

TRACKING- the assigning of students to a curricular track.

SELF-EFFICACY- also referred as personal efficacy, is confidence in one's own ability to achieve intended
results. Psychologists have studied self-efficacy from several perspectives, noting various paths in the
development of self-efficacy; the dynamics of self-efficacy, and lack thereof, in many different settings;
interactions between self-efficacy and self-concept; and habits of attribution that contribute to, or detract from,

MOTIVATION- is the reason for people's actions, desires, and needs. Motivation is also one's direction to
behavior, or what causes a person to want to repeat a behavior. A motive is what prompts the person to act in a
certain way, or at least develop an inclination for specific behavior.
