Reflection

1. How do your exploratory essay, rhetorical analysis, and position synthesis

represent the way you have met the learning goals above and the critical thinking

and writing processes you have engaged with throughout the semester in English

1010? Specifically, explain one significant concept/idea you have learned in each

unit. Discuss places that a reader could see evidence of this in the posted papers.

My exploratory essay represents the very first starting point of my writing, and looking

back at it now, I can tell that I have grown tremendously. My exploratory essay has helped my

writing in many ways. For example, the way that I question, explore, and formulate ideas that

define issues, has been broadened, and has helped me with my writing in many ways. You can

see examples of this in my paper through the way that I used my sources to explain my position

on the issue.

My rhetorical analysis paper has helped me reach the goals of identifying and enacting

compositional choices, strategies, and moves. For example, in my paper I was able to identifying

the different rhetorical devices that were used in my sources, to make the intended readers more

persuaded.
 My position synthesis paper is the final result of all of the writing skills/techniques that I

have learned thus far in this class. I am very proud of my final paper in this class because I have

put a lot of time and effort into making it perfect. One concept that I have nailed in my paper is

how myself and others respond to a particular issue/problem/question to create change in the

world or add something to a field of knowledge.

1. Overall, how has your view of writing changed because of your work in

this class? What have you learned that you can transition (take with

you) to other writing situations? Think about how what you have

learned in this course connects to other concepts you are learning in

other academic courses or your professional or personal life.

Overall my views of writing have been widely expanded throughout my work in this class. I

have learned so much information about writing that I had no clue about before I took this class.

For example, now I do not struggle of thinking of what to write because my creativity and

knowledge has grown from our writing assignments. I have learned that there is many different

areas to explore with your writing, which is good if you have writer's block, and that is

something that I can take with me into my future english classes. This course has helped me with

other aspects in my life. For example, I have used all the writing skills that I have learned in this

class to write papers in my other classes (which impressed my professors).
