Abstract

The project describes, on the basis of a risk assessment and control measures in construction
industry activities the construction industry's perception of risk associated with its activities
and the extent to which the industry uses risk assessment techniques. It concludes that risk
assessment is essential to construction activities in minimizing losses and enhancing
profitability. Construction activities risk is generally perceived as events that influence
project objectives of cost, time and quality. Risk assessment and control measures in
construction depend mainly on intuition, judgement and experience. This risk assessments
are prepared in the following construction industry activities of Excavation for Effluent
treatment plant(ETP), Scaffold erection for outer plastering in a G + 14 MSB, Explosive
blasting, Crane operation to position a Truss work of 100 MT weight in an Air port and
suggest the suitable control measures is based upon the ALARA/ALARP region.

Risk assessment involves identifying risks, assessing them and then developing control strategies
to manage them. Risks can be assessed qualitatively and quantitatively. The project
emphasizes the identification and assessment of various risks in case of construction
industry projects. The evaluation of risks can help in prioritizing risks for effective risk
assessment and successful completion of a project.
