Since our first observation (and the beginning of the school year) I see so much more
confidence and ease when I sit back and just observe you! I am noticing a natural
relationship and ease with the way you are interacting with the kids and how you go with
flow as things come up. For example, in the middle of you solving the problem with area,
you handed Roman a highlighter while you were solving the problem, without missing a
beat! It just feels more smoothly. I hope you feel that, too!

I love how you referred the kids back to their math journals to find the rules for solving
integers. Great way for them to feel the buy-in for taking good notes in their journals. You
are super comfortable using the iPad and TV during your teaching. This lesson I notice you
standing with the iPad and moving around the room versus sitting. You are looking so
comfortable!

You were being super supportive to get Soleil to solve that proportion problem today! I like
how you spent plenty of time with her to get her to the correct solution. Consider: when
spending time with her (especially when we know she can take a while to calculate), push
some of the higher kids on to something that can occupy them while you are solving with
Soleil. Maybe have Dylan and Roman solve it in their heads or ask them to show an alternate
way to multiply or divide (similar to a number talk) to keep them working while you help
Soleil get there. That could be a scaffolding strategy.

In addition to your lesson, I want to give feedback on the WIAT you have been administering
Zimri. Great job being diligent about only reading the magenta-colored directions so the test
remains standardized to the norm-referencing it was designed to be. I like how you repeat
what you are allowed to repeat when he had a question.

I also want to comment on todays IEP meeting with Manuel. I like how you were offering
information about his routines in class and getting more information from his mom on how
we can tie in a reward to his organizational goal. That was definitely seeking information
about Manuel and his life and collaborating with his mom.
