Ed 2020 Summative Review

Unit 1-
1. Name two social/emotional milestones that happen between the ages 12-19. Become self-
conscious, moving between childish and adult needs.
2. Why is diversity important in education? Explain. I believe it is important more because you
want school to be as real world as possible and if we didnt have diversity I believe we would be
doing a disservice to the children.
3. What type of outfit is professional to wear on an internship? Business casual clothes. An
example would be business pants, a nice shirt, and some flats.
4. What will you do for classroom climate? I will make sure to start every day off on a good note
and maintain a positive classroom
5. How does diversity impact your classroom? Diversity impacts the class because diversity isnt
just race its how people learn different and progress differently. You have to accommodate
accordingly to each students depending on their needs.
6. Name one learner development theory and explain how it applies to teaching.
7. What is FERPA? How does it apply to teaching?
8. What developmental stage are most children in when in an elementary school?
9. How long will classroom diversity affect the classroom? Classroom diversity will always be there.
You just have to learn how to deal with it and how each of your students work
10. What are some different ways student in your class can be diverse? Their background, home
life, race, gender, personality, and learning styles.
11. What are three different ways you will create classroom climate within the first week of school?

12. What things would you do walking into an interview to show your professionalism? Give them a
good hand shake. Smile and make good eye contact. Dress and walk professionally.
13. How can classroom climate effect your students behavior? Depending on type of climate the
students will act in whatever way you set it
14. Why do we use icebreakers? To get to know your students and make everyone comfortable with
each other.
15. What was the importance of having Andy Schuerman talk to us about diversity? He has done a
lot of work with diversity and he himself is diverse because he is married to a man
16. How do you create a positive classroom? I want to create positivity by never yelling at students,
trying to direct them in the right path instead of making them feel down or bad about what they
did just correcting the issue.

Unit 2-
1. Name four different types of communication.
2. How is communication in the digital world changing? Everything is changing over to digital and
more and more people do all of their communication is becoming digital
3. Scenario: One day you woke up and you were getting sick. There is no way you can go to your
internship. You need to send an email to your host teacher. What do you say in your email?
4. Do you think teachers should be involved on social media? Explain. I think social media can be a
very good way of communication so as long as they use it carefully I think it be a good thing.
5. Over the weekend, you caught a nasty cough and its contagious. You cant come to school
today. You spent your entire weekend writing your lesson plan for your sub, but you just cant
think about what to say to your boss. You decide an email would be the best way to
communicate with her/him. In the space provided below, write the email that you will send to

Over the weekend I caught a contiguous illness. Im going to the doctor on Monday to hopefull get some
antibotics. I will be needing a sub in my class on Monday. I have written my sub plans and will drop them
by the classroom Monday morning. I just dont want any of kids to catch my cold.

6. Should teachers and students be Facebook friends, why or why not? While they are in their class
no, but if after they want to I guess it is fine.
7. What are some things that go into a professional philosophy? Your thoughts, future plans,
current system.
8. Give an example of how collaboration is used in the classroom. Teachers and students bounce
ideas off of each other
9. What form of social media that is used by professionals to open up job opportunities? Websites,
twitter, business apps.
10. What should you include in a signature line? You should have your name, your title, you
email address, and where you are placed, and your phone number

Unit 3 -
1. What is MODESE?
2. What does MLS stand for and as teachers what do we use it for? Missouri Learning Standards.
You use it to teach kids what they need to learn for that grade level and subject.
3. Where do you get your Missouri Learning Standards? From the MODESE website and the school
should provide them for you.
4. What do you start with when you write curriculum? You start with breaking up the curriculum
and finding your priority standards
5. In the lesson planning unit of study template what is the first thing we do in each unit to our
standard? Find the verbs and break it down

Unit 4-
1. How are personalization and individualization different?
2. What is an instructional sequence?
3. How many priority standards should you have? Supporting?
4. What is one way you can differentiate your instructions in class? Put instructions on the
smartboard, verbally say them, give them a sheet of paper.
5. What is a lesson plan? Explain what you use it for. It is a plan of how you will teach a certain
standard or part of a standard.
6. What do you start with when you do your lesson plans? Writing your standard and learning goal
of the lesson.
7. Explain the difference between Differentiation, Personalization, and Individualization. Why is it
important that we do these things as teachers?
8. Give an example of one way that you can personalize a lesson plan for a student. If they struggle
with math. You may have them focus on a couple of questions that they seem to be struggling
with instead of having them do the whole worksheet.
9. What are instructional strategies? Different ways of giving instructions and teaching a lesson.
10. Name one type of instructional strategy and when you would use it in the classroom.

Unit 5-
1. Describe assessment of, assessment for, and assessment as learning. Assessment as is for
teachers. Assessment for is for students.
2. What is the difference between formative and summative assessment? Formative is for the
teacher and is given during a unit. Summative is the end of unit and you dont go back and teach
it again.
3. How often should you assess your students? All the time. You should always be assessing them
even if it is just by observing them.
4. What are four examples of types of assessments? Observation, test, quiz, homework
5. Why do we do assessments? To see where our students are in their learning.
6. What is summative assessment? A summative assessment is like an EOC where you test about
something and never go back to it.
7. What type of an assessment is and EOC? Summative
8. What is an example of a standardized test? ACT
9. What type of assessment is the ACT? Both summative and formative depending on if you take it
again.
10. What is the difference between an assessment and a test? Is there one? A test is a form of an
assessment, but an assessment isnt always a test.
11. What data do you think is important for teachers to have? (students, parents?) I think it is
important to have evidence of learning. Whether it is written observation notes, tests,
homework. It is all good to have.
