6.0 WATER REQUIREMENT

During the construction stage, arrangement has been made from tanker water supply local level.
It is estimated that water demand during the construction phase may vary from 12-15 kld.

During the project operational stage, the total water demand of the Hospital and nursing home
will be around 140 kld.

Details of water requirement:

200 bed x 450 liters 90,000 liters (90 kld)
Staff 300 Nos. x 150 liters = 45,000 liters ( 45kld)
Visitors 200Nos. x 15 liters = 3000 (kld)
Total - - 138 kld say 140 kld

Waste Water generation: 126 kld

It may be seen that total waste water generation will be 126 KLD and treated water will be
available as 114 KLD per day (after 10% process loss) . The utilization of treated waste water is
given below :
3
Total Treated water = 114 KLD
Recycled water requirement
Flushing = 25 KLD
HAVC system = 35 KLD
Horticulture = 66 KLD
Total = 126 KLD
Hence we haveve not proposed the discharge of treated water from the campus. It is submitted
that we are having enough land measuring with open area of 8681.54,, therefore we have not
proposed any discharge out side of the premises.

Wastewater:

During the operationall stage, wastewater generation from Hospital and Nursing home project
will be approx. 126 kld.
The treated wastewater generated will be reused for flushing, and horticulture purposes.

7.0 Wastewater Generation & Treatment

It is expected that the project will generate approx.

approx.126 KLD of wastewater. The wastewater will
be treated in the STP of 15
50KLD capacity. Treated effluent from STP which will be recycled
within the project but in premises.

7.1 SEWAGEE TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY

FAB TECHNOLOGY
Sewerage System
An external sewage network shall collect the sewage from all units, and flow by gravity
to the proposed sewage treatment plant.
Following are the benefits of providing the Sewage Treatment Plant in th
the present
circumstances:
Reduced net daily water requirements, source for Horticultural purposes by utilization
of the treated waste water.
There will be reduced dependence on the public utilities for water supply and

4
sewerage systems.
Sludge generated from the Sewage Treatment Plant shall be rich in organic content and
used as manure for horticultural purposes.

(c) B.O.D. <10 mg/l
(d) C.O.D. <250 mg/l
(e) Total Suspended Solids <10 mg/l

 Treatment Technology
The technology is based on attached growth aerobic treatment followed by clarification by a
tube settler. Lime will be dosed in for suppression of foaming tendencies. The clarified water will
be filtered in a pressure sand filter after dosing of coagulant (alum) for removal of unsettled
suspended impurities. This water will be passed through an activated carbon filter for removal of
organics. The filtered water from ACF is then chlorinated & stored in the flushing tank.
The attached growth fluidized aerobic bed reactor (FAB) process combines the biological
processes of attached & suspended growth. It combines submerged fixed film with extended
aeration for treatment of the waste water.
5
The waste water after screening is collected in an equalization tank. The equalization tank is
required for preventing surges in flow & facilitating equalization of characteristics over the entire
quantity of effluent in a given time. A provision for pre-aeration is made in the equalization tank
in order to ensure mixing & to prevent the sewage from going septic.
The equalized sewage is then pumped into the FAB reactor for biological processing. The water
enters the bottom of the reactor & flows up through the fixed film media which grossly enhances
the hydraulic retention time & provides a large surface area for growth of biological micro
organisms. The FAB reactor is aerated by fine pore sub surface diffusers which provide the
oxygen for organic removal. The synthetic media floats on the water & the air agitation ensures
good water to micro-organism contact.
The FAB treatment is an attached growth type biological treatment process where in, the
majority of biological activity takes place on the surface of the PVC media. Continuous aeration
ensures aerobic activity on the surface of the media. Micro organisms attach themselves on the
media & grow into dense films of a viscous jelly like nature.
Waste water passes over this film with dissolved organics passing into the bio-film due to
concentration gradients within the film. Suspended particles & colloid may get retained on this
sticky surface where they are decomposed into soluble products. Oxygen from the aeration
process in the waste water provides oxygen for the aerobic reactions at the bio-film surface.
Waste products from the metabolic processes diffuse outward & get carried away by the waste
water or air currents through the voids of the media.

Stages of Treatment: The treatment process consists of the following stages:

Equalization
Bio- Degradation
Clarification & Settling
Filtration

8.0 RAIN WATER HARVESTING

Rain Harvesting System:

Keeping in mind the importance of water and it scarcity it is proposed to conserve rainwater by
harvesting which will improve the subsoil water condition / moisture content maintained /
improved to a great extent.

It is proposed to collect
ect rainwater from roof area, Ground surface area and harvest the same for
charging the under Ground water table. For this, all rain water pipes from ducts are connected to
the storm water drain at ground level. The collected rainwater with battery / netwo
network of catch
basin is finally connected to rainwater harvest pit located at various points.

The rain water harvesting pits will contain circular RCC retention tanks of 2.5 m radius. It will be
fitted with RCC lids and will be provided with separate inlet and outlets (Overflow) pipes. The
base of the retention tank will be fitted with course sand of 1.5 2 mm dia, gravel of 5 10 mm
dia and finally by boulder of 5 15 mm dia laid one layer on another. This provides a natural
filtration to the incoming rain
in water. A 153 dia PVC pipe with1.55mm slots at the bottom is
provided for percolation. The total retention capacity of the tank and pipe is about 80 m3

7
It has been estimated that the annual rain water harvesting capacity of the entire complex is
around 58664 m3. Considering a maximum intensity of 50 mm rainfall per hour, and run of
coefficient from rooftop, paved road/ parking area and open area to be 0.7, 0.85 and 0.2
respectively the rain water available for harvesting shall be as shown in the table below:

For the project, ample parking space has been provided. During operational phase, parking space
of 8540 sqm will be provided.

10.0 POWER REQUIREMENT

For the proposed project, power will be supplied by State Electricity Board. The total power
required for the project is estimated to be as around 2267.00 KW.
For emergency purposes backup is proposed by using 2 DG set of 1500 and 1250 KVA capacity.

11.0 SOLID WASTE GENERATION

Solid waste would be generated both during the construction as well as during the operation
phase. The solid waste expected to be generated during the construction phase will comprise of
excavated materials, used bags, bricks, concrete, MS rods, tiles, wood etc. The following steps
are proposed to be followed for the management solid waste:
Construction yards are proposed for storage of construction materials.

The excavated material such as topsoil and stones will be stacked for reuse during later
stages of construction

Excavated top soil will be stored in temporary constructed soil bank and will be reused
for landscaping of the project.

11
Remaining soil shall be utilized for refilling / road work / rising of site level at locations/
