Unavezquesedetectaelderrame,laformacorrectaderesponderesrealizandolossiguientespasos:
Primero,identificarsiexistencondicionespeligrosas.Siunacondicinpeligrosaesidentificada,
lo primero que se debe hacer es eliminar o reducir el peligro. Se puede solicitar apoyo al
personaldeseguridadindustrial.Algunosejemplosdecondicionespeligrosasson:trabajoscon
soldaduraamenosde15metrosdedistancia,cadadeobjetoscomorocas,ruidooeltrnsito
demaquinarias.
El segundo paso es detener la actividad o apagar el equipo para reducir la magnitud del
derrame. En caso de no poder detener el derrame pueden colocarse paos absorbentes,
sistemasdecontencinobaldesqueevitenqueelhidrocarburolleguealsuelooalagua.
Tercero,asegureelreausandobarricadas,cintas,conosdeseguridadocualquierotromaterial
queseencuentrealalcance.Deestamanerasepondrenavisoalrestodepersonalsobrela
presenciadelderrame.
Asegurada el rea, se puede proceder a la limpieza utilizando los implementos del kit para

Debe notificar a su supervisor de lo ocurrido a la brevedad posible para que ste pueda notificar al
departamentodeQHSEdeHuntLNGcuantoantes,comomximodentrodelas2horasdeocurridoel
derrame.Almomentodenotificarelderrame,sedebebrindarinformacinsobreelderrame,comola
horadeocurridoelderrame(sisedesconoce,lahoraenlaquefueidentificado),ellugardondeocurri,
la sustancia y volumen derramado, la cantidad de tierra recogida (si aplica) y la causa del incidente.
Personal del rea de medio ambiente se acercar para asegurar que la limpieza haya sido hecha
correctamenteyqueelmaterialcontaminadohamanejadocorrectamente.

Finalmente,eltrabajadorresponsabledelaactividadqueocasionelderrameysusupervisordebern
completarprimerounreportepreliminardeincidentequedeberserenviadoalreaalreademedio
ambientedeHUNTLNGdentrode24horasdeocurridoeleventoyluegodeberncompletarelreporte
deinvestigacindelincidente.

Knowing how to respond in the event of a spill can help to minimize the impacts caused to the
environment. In case of a hydrocarbon spill, each area is responsible for cleaning it up. It should be
notedthat,gasoline,diesel,oil,andgreasearehydrocarbons

Priortocommencinganyactivityyoushouldidentifytheexactplacewherespillkitsandfireextinguisher
arelocated.Inadditionyoushouldensureallspillkitsareingoodconditions,readyforuse,andeasily
accessible.Spillkitsmustcontainatleast:absorbentandindustrialrags,neoprenegloves,andbagsor
sacks for waste disposal. Additional accessories of spill kits can include protective glasses, absorbent
cords,shovelandpick,amongstothers.

Onceaspillhasbeendetected,thecorrectwaytorespondisbycarryingoutthefollowingsteps:
First,identifyanyhazardousconditionswithinthevicinityofthespill.Ifahazardousconditionis
identified,thehazardousconditionmustbeeliminatedorinanycase,minimized.TheHSEteam
maybeofassistanceforthisparticulartask.Examplesofhazardousconditionsinclude:welding
works at a distance of less than 15 meters, falling objects such as rocks, noise, and/ or
machinerytraffic.
Second,ceaseallactivitiesand/orturnoffallequipmentasameanofreducingthemagnitude
of the spill. Should the spill not cease, and then use absorbent rags, containment systems
and/orbucketsastoavoidanyhydrocarbonsfromreachingsoilorwater.
Third,theareashouldbesecuredusingbarricades,safetytapes,safetyconesand/oranyother
equipmentthatiswithinreach.Bydoingso,otherpersonnelnearbyarenotifiedregardingthe
spill.
Fourth,oncetheareahasbeensecured,youcanproceedtocleanitupusingthecontentsofthe
spillkits.

Itshouldbenotedthatyoumustnotifyyoursupervisorofthespillassoonaspossible,sothatheorshe
can notify the Hunt LNG QHSE department no later than 2 hours after the spill had occurred. When
informing your supervisor, the following important information regarding the spill must be included:
timeofspill(ifunknown,timewhenspillwasidentified),locationwherethespilloccurred,thetypeof
substancespilled,theapproximatevolumeofthespill,theamountofsoilcollected(ifapplicable)andthe
probablecauseoftheincident.Environmentalteamdesignatedpersonnelwillensurethatcleansingof
thespillhadbeencarriedoutcorrectlyandthatallcontaminatedmaterialwasproperlydisposedof.

Oncethespillhasbeencleanedup,theemployeeresponsibleforthespill,incollaborationwithhis/her
supervisor,mustcompletethepreliminaryincidentreportwhichwillbesenttothe QHSEdepartment
within24hoursaftertheeventhappenedandthentheincidentinvestigationreportmustbecompleted.
