Purpose:
Reason for developing learning experience.
This could be in response to an observation,
discussion with the site supervisor, Ontario
Curriculum Objective,etc.
Observation
-Document what you saw and heard
-Document non-verbal communication
(i.e., body language, facial expressions and
voice tone)
-Document in detail: who, what, where and

-Documentation should be written in past
tense, objective and in anecdotal format

Purpose:
The purpose of this activity is that colouring with crayons not only helps
develop fine-motor skills such as grasping and holding, but also improves visual
judgment and stimulates a child's imagination, so it's a good activity for educators or
parents/guardians to encourage. Colouring with crayons helps a child to develop
appropriate pencil grip which will help them in the future with writing which is an
area needed for academic success.
Observation:
In class, I saw that the teacher gave children a blank page and crayons to colour with.
The children were having a lot of fun scribbling on the paper, so I decided to do
something similar.

Describe the experience:
-Who will be involved in the experience?

Learning Experience: Children will be provided crayons and Christmas tree
templates in order to colour or create whatever they wish to do so in order to decorate
the tree.
Objectives:
Children will enhance their fine motor skills by holding on to the crayons and
colouring/scribbling with them
Physical
5.2 Fine Motor Skills- pincer grasp
-using forefinger and thumb to lift and hold small objects
Holding and Using Tools- making marks, scribbling

1.3 Parallel Play- playing in close proximity to peers without an exchange of ideas or
things
Setting: This activity will take place indoors and the children will be seated at the
table with the material provided in front of them.
Materials:
Christmas tree template
crayons
 Implementation:
-The teacher will call all the children to the table where they will be seated in front of
one page of a Christmas tree template
-The paper will be placed in front of them and taped
-They will then be given crayons and asked to decorate and colour the tree as they
wish
-Throughout the time the children are making something, the teacher will ask them
questions of what they are making and what colour they are using
-After the children are done, the teacher will write their name with pen on it and take
the tape off and place the artwork on the counter to be filed

2 Teaching Learning Strategies:

-List the materials and resources you will use
-Describe the implementation of the Modeling- this is when the children learn through imitation by copying what the
experience, with a step by step description teacher has shown them. I will show the children how to colour inside the tree by
-List and describe 2 teaching learning doing it on one page and asking them to copy me
strategies. How will you use them? Why have Environmental Cues- this is when children observe the environment and know
you chosen these strategies? what to do. Children will look at how many pages and chairs are at the table, so that
they know if they are going to participate
