Alignment Systems Training
Training course on shaft alignment for rotating machinery with focus on Laser-shaft
alignment for standard applications using PRÜFTECHNIK devices, with theoretical lessons
and practical hands-on training
Goal: After the training the participant will be able to perform standard shaft
alignment tasks on two coupled machines using laser alignment tools
including final report.

Introduction to shaft alignment
Classical alignment methods (dial indicators)
Preconditions and preparation for an optimal shaft alignment
Identifying the appropriate alignment procedure
Alignment procedure of two coupled machines step-by-step
Operation of laser alignment devices
Thermal growth and alignment targets
Soft foot
Non- conventional alignment of machines: uncoupled machines, non
rotatable machines, machine train, vertical & flanged machine
Interactive practical hands-on sessions
Intro to advanced & geometrical applications (vibration acceptance
check, alignment targets measurement, concentricity of bores, flatness,
straightness and level)
Preparation of professional reports using PC Software

Final examination: The final examination consists of 50 questions (multiple choice) that
must be answered in 120 minutes.

Alignment Systems Training
Training course on special application for flatness and bores using PRÜFTECHNIK laser
alignment devices, with theoretical lessons and practical hands-on training.
Goal: After the training the participant will be able to lead and perform any
common bore and flatness measurement task including stern tubes;
engine pocket; machine foundation; and bed plates flatness
measurement. The participant will be able to indentify the right method
as well as the accuracy of the measurement taken by defining and
performing the proper and/or best possible specific procedure
accordingly.

Introduction to geometrical alignment, theory and classical alignment
methods
Understanding the physics and characteristics of laser
Understanding the principle and type of applications that are applicable
(flanges; machine foundations; bed plates; engine pocket; stern tube;
etc)
Identifying the appropriate step by step preparation and measurement
procedure (rotating laser; static laser)
Preconditions for an optimal result
Measurement modes, measurement table, standard deviation and
repeatability check

measurement technology. Participants must have at least twelve (12)
months of experience with vibration diagnosis or must have taken part
in the PRÜFTECHNIK ‘Vibration Diagnosis Level 1’ course (or a
similar course).
