what they all mean. And if you do have Mac users

First… just check your PC
is ready for wireless.

PC
Most laptops under 3 years old are ‘wireless enabled’.
Just look for this ‘Intel® Centrino™’ logo – it’ll be near
the keyboard.

This usually means you’ve got the thumbs up to go wireless.


If you’ve got a desktop PC take a peek at your manufacturer
documents to see if you’re ready to go. If your PC’s not yet
ready, we can help… you just need an extra little gadget
as follows:

Desktop: A wireless USB adaptor or a wireless network card

 Top tip! Remove any anti-virus or any other software you might have
installed with a previous Internet Service Provider – you may find they
are not compatible with TalkTalk. It’s easy to add extra PCs
! Just check they’re ready to go wireless, then do this:
• Put your TalkTalk Connect & Go CD into your new PC
• Follow the ‘What do you want to do?’ page
• Follow the ‘I’m already a TalkTalk broadband customer’ section
• Choose the option ‘I want to add another computer for wireless connectivity’
• Follow the on-screen instructions

using PPPoE’. Now go back to the first tab and ‘Using DHCP’ should be
available in the drop down list.
If the light is off or flashing green check:
• The microfilter connected to your router is plugged into the master

9 And now secure your connection.

‘Access Point’ is set to ‘Enable’. In ‘Channel ID’ replace ‘Auto Channel Select’
with ‘Channel 01’
• Next to ‘SSID’ delete ‘HG520b’ and enter a name for your network (make it
something easy to remember but don’t include any personal details)
• Next to ‘Authentication Type’ choose ‘WPA-PSK’

right put in a password you’ll remember easily (this has to be a minimum of
8 characters)
• Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click ‘Submit’

Top tip! Write your network name and password below, in case you need to
connect other computers later on. Then keep this booklet somewhere safe.

Five steps to going wireless
1 Leave the yellow Ethernet cable plugged in while you complete
this stage.

on the ‘Airport’ icon will turn from grey
to black.

Here’s some solutions
to common problems

works. If it doesn’t, call us on 0870 087 8045 up properly
• Don’t worry. Go to www.mytalktalk.co.uk, select ‘Help and Support’ tab
then ‘Helpdesk’ for simple instructions
The connection is really slow • Set up, change and delete your email accounts by going to
