1 INTRODUCTION

This document describes the release of Synergi Plant Web Application version 5.4.1 and impact on
existing or on-going Synergi Plant solution, as well as the upgrade process from previous version.

This document could be used as reference to upgrade Synergi Plant system or implement new Synergi
Plant solutions. It could also be used as reference to check the feature changes or functions
improvement. For more details not addressed in this document, please refer to the system user manual
or contact technical expertise in DNV GL Software Synergi Plant team.

2 HIGHLIGHT OF NEW RELEASE

Synergi Plant is part of the SynergiTM Plant product family, an separate Synergi Integration Service
package is available for system integration between Synergi Plant and other modules in the product
family.

Synergi Plant version 5.4.1 is an enhanced version based on previous version 5.4. More details about the
fixes and improvement can be found in chapter 5.

3 HOW TO UPGRADE

The system upgrade of Synergi Plant consists of several steps:

Step 1: Upgrade Synergi Plant database

Note:

The purpose of this step is to change the database data and structure (if necessary) to comply with
the new version of Synergi Plant Web Application, in order to serve the new features.

An standard database upgrade package is released together with the application to do the changes
above. The database should be upgraded sucessfully by following the steps below.

However, the upgrading becomes more complicated when it comes to Synergi Plant and RBI
integration, especially when data schema has been changed in new version of RBI module. A
custom-made upgrade package/process, therefore, is required to upgrade such systems case by
case.

1. Double click the database upgrade package to


run it, choose your language and click on

button to proceed. See Figure-1.

2. Input your database information, such as User
name, Password and Oracle TNS name. Click

on button to proceed. See Figure-

3. In Select destination directory dialog, either


accept the default installation path, or type
in/browse a new path to store the upgrade
scripts. See Figure-3.

4. Select the options you want to be installed on


your hard drive. The DBupgrade scripts is
selected by default and you can just proceed.

5. Check all options and information in Summary
window, confirm to install by cliking the

button. See Figure-4.

6. A log file will be shwon upon the finish of


database upgrade, pls review the log file and
complete the upgrade process by clicking the

button on the upgrade dialog. See

Note: The incorrect information input in step 2 can result in long time running in step 6. If it
happens, please close the upgrade window and re-run it.

Step 2: Upgrade Synergi Plant Client

Note:

Synergi Plant Windows Client is a desktop application for system administrator to configure the
system as well as data uploading.

To upgrade the system, the new version of the Windows client application needs to be installed on
the client machine that has been installed with Oracle client 32 bits connecting to the Oracle
database server.

For more details of installation of Synergi Plant Windows Client, please refer to the installation guide.

Step 3: Upgrade Synergi Plant Web Application

1. Double click on the Synergi Plant Web


Application installation package to run it,

choose button to proceed.

2. Previous installation of the system on the same


machine will be detected by the setup wizard,
please tick off the check box and click on

button to proceed the upgrade.

3. Accept the license agreement and continue.
See Figure-8.

Note:

For more details about the process after license agreement, please refer to the installation guide, in
which the standard process of new installation of Synergi Plant system is described.

New version of Synergi Integration Service needs to be installed for projects have system
integration, please refer to Synergi Plant Server Installation Guide and Integration Service
configuration guide for details.

4 DOCUMENTATION

For details of system deployment and operation, please refer to relevant documents which are released
together with this document.

System Requirement Describes the software and hardware requirement to deploy Synergi Plant
system.

Client installation

 Oracle Client Installation Guide: This documentation is not provided by DNV GL, refer to Oracle
Documentation.

 Synergi Plant Client Installation Guide: Describes the steps to install Synergi Plant - Windows
Client and/or Synergi Plant - Security Admin on client machine.

Note: Typically the client machine mentioned above is to be used by the system administrator to
configure / maintain the Synergi Plant system.

All other normal users should work with the system via Internet Explorer.

Server installation

 Oracle Server Installation Guide: This documentation is not provided by DNV GL, refer to Oracle
Documentation.

 Synergi Plant Server Installation Guide: Describes the process to install and configure Synergi
Plant Web Application, Synergi Plant Security Service and/or Synergi Plant Web Service on
server machine.

Note: The Server is also possible to be deployed on Microsoft Azure Cloud.

Installation Form A check list to confirm the system requirement and a form to record the system
installation information on-site. To be signed by both customer and DNV GL Software.

 Synergi Plant Facility Management User Manual: A document to guide user how to work with
Synergi Plant Asset module.

to configure system integration.

 Synergi Plant OrbitRead User Manual (optional): Describes the step to use OrbitRead to upload
data into Synergi Plant database.

 Synergi Plant Pattern System User Manual: A document to guide how pattern based numbers
can be generated and can be used by different modules.

 Synergi Plant Work Scope Management User Manual: Describes the steps to use work pack
management in in Synergi Plant.

 Synergi Plant SIL (Safety Integrity Level) User Manual: Document to describe how to do SIL in
synergi plant.

5 MAIN NEWS
Many issues have been improved and fixed in this version of the software. Some of the highlights are
shown in the below lists.

Enhanced/New Functions

1. Inspection Memo/Anomaly register.

2. New theme is given with an option where user can select the theme he/she wants. This is user
specific.

3. New functionality/right (VIEW ONLY) is given for all non-asset based security screens.

4. Import/Export provided for material specification, piping classes and NWTs.

5. Following enhancements are given for datasheet:

a. Datasheet configuration: A button - 'Design' is added in datasheet configuration screen.


This button will be enabled only when datasheet template either Lookup or Entry or
Lookup/Entry. On clicking this button popup window is opened where number of columns
can be defined for group. On this popup, there are two buttons - 'Normalize' and 'Save'.
Normalize button is always active (no security functionality) and Save button got
functionality - 'SAVE DESIGN'. By selection no. of columns; the properties of the group
are divided/arranged for row-columns automatically which can be changed if user wants.
If user makes mistake in design configuration or the user is not confident, normalize
button can used for auto correct but this is optional. Expanded Mode? - is added to make
the group collapsed/expanded which is done from the same design popup window.

b. Datasheet UI: tabs are converted to dropdown menu and floating tool bar with buttons is
applied.

c. Validation formula is provided on attributes of datasheet.

d. Date validation is added. In configuration, it can be set what validation is required on


date attribute like NONE, PAST, FUTURE, RANGE.

e. Print option is given for datasheet.

6. Inspection integration between Synergi Plant and RBI with following enhancements:

a. Able to sync inspection effectiveness from Synergi Plant to RBI.

b. While creating asset in Synergi Plant it can be specified if this is an RBI asset.

7. Data modification check given on tree item or ribbon menu change.

8. Two new reports given with this release:

a. List of asset with corrosion loop, P&ID, drawing no, and serial no.

b. List of asset with corrosion loop, P&ID and drawing no.

6 OTHER PRODUCT INFORMATION

SynergiTM Plant is a product suite of DNV GL Software, in addition to the systems described in this
document, there are other systems belong to SynergiTM Plant product family.

Synergi Plant RBI Offshore, risk assessment software for offshore equipment, has released its latest
version 5.4.1. For more details, please refer to the Synergi Plant RBI Offshore release notes.

Synergi Plant RBI Onshore / Power Plant, risk assessment software for onshore equipment and/or power
plant facilities, has released its latest version 5.4.1. Please refer to the Synergi Plant RBI Onshore
release notes for more details about the features and functions.
