Configure the Zigbee XBee S2C Modules as –

 Coordinator
 Router
 End Device

In a ZigBee network we have taken one coordinator, router, and end pointer.

ZigBee firmware is designed to form networks (star, mesh networks etc,). Here we are
configuring these Zigbee modules to form Mesh Network. You need Digi’s configuration
software, X-CTU, to do this.

Hardware Requirement:

1. Zigbee Modules (XBee S2C series) - 3

2. XBee PCB Board - CP2102 UART Board - 3
3. USB to D-Type cables - 3

Software Requirement:

 X-CTU Software.

If You Double click on the above icon you can see the below window.
 Configure the Zigbee as Coordinator

1. Make sure XBee module is placed properly on CP2102 Board

2. Connect USB cable from CP2102 UART Board to PC/Laptop
3. Open X - CTU application
4. Note: After Configuring the Zigbee Module as coordinator, Disconnect all the
connections which are connected above and close the Application.

And click on as shown below.

Select the COM Port (Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge) and click on Next as shown.
Now, click on Add selected devices and click Finish.
Enter the PAN ID as your wish, here I have entered 1234.

Change CE Coordinator Enable to – Enabled [1]

Click on Icon to save values entered.

Now, Scroll down page.

Now, close the application.
 Configure the Zigbee as Router

1. Make sure XBee module is placed properly on CP2102 Board

2. Connect USB cable from CP2102 UART Board to PC/Laptop
3. Open X - CTU application
4. Note: After Configuring the Zigbee Module as Router, Disconnect all the
connections which are connected above and close the Application.

And click on as shown below.

Select the COM Port (Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge) and click on Next as shown.
Now, click on Add selected device and click Finish.
Now, close the application.
 Configure the Zigbee as End Device
1. Make sure XBee module is placed properly on CP2102 Board
2. Connect USB cable from CP2102 UART Board to PC/Laptop
3. Open X - CTU application
4. Note: After Configuring the Zigbee Module as End Device, Disconnect all the
connections which are connected above and close the Application.

And click on as shown below.

Select the COM Port (Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge) and click on Next as shown.
Now, click on Add selected devices and click Finish.
Now, close the application.
