1. How to create new blood donation session?
Step1: In “Blood Donation” screen, the blood bank technician can create new blood donation
by clicking “New” icon and enter donor Iqama/National ID or select the existing patient
by clicking on the “Grid View” icon as shown in figure 1.1 and 1.2

Step2: Select the “Type of Donation” i.e. (Autologous, Directed (Replacement), Homologous,
or Replacement). Once selecting “Directed (Replacement)” type, select the “Directed
By” patient ID who replaced the patient and donate blood. And if the donor has
“Appointment No” , it will be fetched automatically from system. Finally, click on
“Save” icon as shown in figure 1.3 and 1.4

Step3: On clicking “Modify” icon, print the "Questionnaire" for the donor to answer and it is
available in Arabic and English language. Then enter the donor answers on the system
as shown in figure 1.5

Step4: The doctor should fill the "Medical Examination", then click "Save" as shown in
figure 1.6

Step5: The "Blood Collection" should be filled by the blood bank technician. And the blood
bank technician can print multiple copies of the donation label as shown in figure 1.7
and 1.8

2. Donor Testing
Note: Entering of (ABO Type, Antibody, Antigen, and ABO Confirmation Test) based on the
test result.
Step6: In “Donor Testing” screen, scan the “Unit No.” and then select the values in each
column i.e. (0,+1,+2,+3,+4,w) as shown in figure 1.9

Step7: When you open Antibody screen, all "Unit No" will appear automatically. Enter the
result values for the selected unit as shown in figure 1.10
Note: When you select in every cell "Zero" value the RH Factor will be Negative but when you
select in every cell "Positive value" such (+1,+2,+3,+4) he RH Factor will be Positive.

Step8: When you open Antigen screen, select the result values as shown in figure 1.11
Note: When you select in the "Reactivity" positive value it will be shown in the
"Interpretation" positive also. But When you select in the "Reactivity" negative value
it will be shown in the "Interpretation" negative.

Step9: When you open ABO Confirmation Test screen, select the result values as shown in
figure 1.12
Note: The blood group it can be the same but the users should be difference.

Note: Only the first four columns you should fill and the others will be filled automatically.
Step10: On clicking “Grid View” icon in “Blood Grouping Approval (Donor)” tab, the Hold
status it's showing by blue color but the Approved status it's showing by green
color. Only hold status you can right click on it and make it Approved or Cancelled
as shown in figure 1.13
CT = Confirmation Test.

Note: It should be two entries the ABO Type and ABO Confirmation Test. The two
entries should be from two different users and the result should be the same.

3. Blood Componenting
Step11: Enter “Unit No.”, and select the "Perform Operation" then the information will be
displayed shown as shown in figure 1.14

Step12: The component status will be on “Hold” before printing the label as shown in figure 1.15

Step13: If all results negative the label will be printed but if there any single result positive the
biohazard label will be printed and donor will be rejected. The Hold status after
printing will be Available as shown in figure 1.16 and 1.17

Step14: On clicking “Print Label” button, the label will be printed and the blood bank
technician will stick it on the blood bag as shown in figure 1.18 and 1.19

4. Blood Inventory
Step15: In “Blood Inventory” screen, blood bank technician can check how many units they have with
different (Product, Volume, Created Date, Expiry Date, Status, Blood Group,
Patient ID, and Exchange Info) and the expired unit will not appear in this screen as shown
in figure 1.20

5. Transfusion Request (Inpatient)


The purpose of using this screen to request a blood for the admitted patient from the blood bank.
Step16: On clicking “New” icon, Doctor should enter patient ID and fill the highlighted fields i.e.
(Product Type, Blood Product, Unit of Measurement, Number of Units,
Date/Time Blood Needed, Reason for Transfusion, Previous Transfusion, Previous
Transfusion Reaction, Pregnancy, and Hemoglobin). The Primary and Secondary
Physicians will be fetched automatically from system. Finally click on “Save” button as shown
in figure 1.21

Step17: On clicking “Edit” icon, Nurse who works in the inpatient ward should enter patient ID and
check “Sample Extracted By” field then nurse name/ID will be fetched automatically from
system. Select “Sample Extracted Date/Time”. Finally click on “Save” button as shown in
figure 1.22

Step18: Click “Print” icon to print the label by the nurse who works in the inpatient ward and then
click on “Edit” icon to check “Sample Already Submitted” check box to ensure the
sample is already done and submitted. Finally, click on “Save” button as shown in figure 1.25
and 1.23

Note: Once the doctor select “Urgent Request” request type. Doctor will fill the highlighted fields.
Then click “Save” icon as shown below.

Note: Once the doctor select “Group and Screen” request type. Nurse will fill the highlighted fields
i.e. (Sample Extracted By and Sample Expected Date/Time). Then click on “Save”
icon as shown below.

6. How to order Transfusion Request (Blood Bank)?
Step19: The blood bank technician should enter patient ID and check “Sample Received” check box
and select procedures as mandatory. “Request Completed” and “Comments” optional
not mandatory. On clicking “Save” icon the status will be changed from hold to active
automatically as shown in figure 1.27 and 1.28

Step20: Click on “Preview” icon to print the request as shown in figure 1.29 and 1.30

7. Patient Testing
The blood bank technician using this screen for testing patient blood which already extracted.
Step21: Blood bank technician will fill the following (ABO Type, Antibody, and Antigen) by
entering patient ID in each tab and and each column will be filled automatically.
“Antibody” must be negative as shown in figure 1.31, 1.32, and 1.33

8. Cross Match and Assigning
Note: PRBC is a cross match product but the other products such; FFP, PLT and CRYO are the
assign products.
Step22: Blood bank technician should enter Patient ID and then scan the bar code which is mentioned
on the unit bag and each column will be filled after the scanning. Also you can type the
"Unit No" from the packet label as shown in figure 1.34

Note: At the cross matching field, there are three options:


1- Allowed. 2- Not Allowed. 3- Allowed with override reason.
Note: The cross matching status it will be decided by the system not the user. System does not allow to
save if the cross matching is Not Allowed. You can delete the "Unit Information" by
selecting it then click delete from the keyboard.
Step23: On clicking “Print” icon, cross match unit tag will be printed as shown in figure 1.35

9. How to dispense Blood from blood Dispensation?

Step24: The nurse should enter patient ID to print the slip by clicking on the “Print Issuance Slip”
button and give it to the blood bank technician manually and then the blood technician will
scan the printed slip as shown in figure 1.36

Note: You can only dispense the available units, refer (Dispense Status) column.
Note: These rows refer to the cross matched or assigned number of units.
Step25: Blood Bank Technician enable to enter nurse name who gave the slip to him and the technician
enable to right-click on the selected available unit and select “Dispensed” option to
dispense the selected blood unit as shown in figure 1.37

Step26: A pop-up screen will be displayed with the following descriptions i.e. (Was the unit
selected properly, Was the unit cross checked with unit receiver by reading the
details aloud, and Was the unit inspected before issuance) as shown in figure 1.38

Step27: Enter authorization ID and password then the status will be dispensed as shown in figure 1.39

Step28: Blood bank technician should print two copies of the component issuance report one
for them and the other for the nurse by right click on the selected blood unit and then
select “Component Issuance Report” option as shown in figure 1.41 and 1.42

Step29: Right-click on the dispensed unit and then select “First Identification” option to enable the
nurse verify blood unit that has been received as shown in figure 1.43 and 1.44

Step30: Right-click on the unit that already has first identification and then select “Second
Identification” option to enable the physician verify blood unit that has been received as
shown in figure 1.45 and 1.46

Step31: Right-click on the unit that already has second identification and then select “Blood
Transfusion Monitoring” option as shown in figure 1.47

Step32: Doctors and nurses have access to blood transfusion monitor sheet to fill the following details
i.e. (Vital Signs Date, Time, Temperature, BP(H), BP(L), Pulse, RR, Recorded
By, Transfusion Date, Transfusion Completed Date/Time, Blood Infusion
Started Date/Time, Amount of Normal Saline and Blood Reaction Noted) as
shown in figure 1.48 and 1.49
Note: Once “Blood Reaction Noted” is checked by Doctor, a pop up screen will appear to fill
“Transfusion Reaction” form as shown in figure 1.50

Step33: Only blood bank technician has access to fill “Transfusion Reaction Blood Bank” details
as shown in figure 1.51
