Lesson Plan No.

4_ Review/ Grade 2
Section: Ilang-Ilang (Tuesday 12:30-1:30), Daisy (Wednesday 12:30-1:30)

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the class the students are expected to:
1. Understand that in music there is Tempo, Melodic lines, thin and Thickness.
2. Distinguish slow, moderate and fast tempo through pictures and listening samples.
3. Effectively recognize and imitate slow and fast tempo through the songs that are being played by
the teacher.
4. Distinguished accurately between single musical line and multiple musical lines which occur
simultaneously in a given song.
5. Demonstrate the concept of texture by singing two-part round.
6. Identify the thin and thick through sample pictures.
7. Distinguish between thinness and thickness of musical sound through listening samples.
8. Perform a song about thin and thickness and experience the concept of texture
9. Relate the importance of thin and thickness sound in their lives.
II. CONTENT
A. Theme: Review about Tempo, Melodic Lines, Thin and Thickness
B. Concept:
 Tempo- The speed at which a musical piece is played or sung.
 Adagio- slowly and stately
 Moderato- is moderately
 Allegro- fast, quickly and bright
 Presto- extremely fast
 Steady Beat- Heartbeat of Music.
 Melodic line -is the main subject, the main phrase, the main melody, the main tune that you hear
repeating in a piece of music.
 Monophonic Texture- one melody without accompaniment.
 Polyphonic Texture- two songs sang together.
 Homophonic- a song with accompaniment
 Echo singing
 Thickness- a layer or sheet of some material (ex. book)
 Thinness- having a small number of people or small amount of something. (ex. Magazine)
C. Context: all the materials from tempo, melodic lines, thin and thickness

Good. So class can you still remember what we discuss last
meeting? It’s all about what? Thin and Thickness

Motivation
Now this let’s have a review of all the topics that we
discuss from the very beginning.

Can you still remember what teacher Eann discuss to you?


About tempo? Maybe

If you can’t still remember let’s review it.

How about the 2nd meeting that I discuss? Can you still
remember about the melodic lines? The monophonic,
polyphonic and homophonic?

And the last topic is the thin and thickness. Can you still
remember it?

Lesson Proper
First let’s review tempo.

Do you know what tempo means? Yes Donna? Donna: It is the speed of sound
Yes Donna your right.
Tempo means the speed of sound.
There are 4 types of tempo.
The 1st is the Slow
2nd is Moderate
3rd is Fast
4th is Very Fast
In music the slow, moderate, fast and very fast has a
musical term.

1st is Slow- Adagio


2nd is Moderate- Moderato
3rd is Fast- Allegro
4th is Very Fast- Presto

I’ll show you a video and tell me if it’s slow, moderate, fast
and very fast.

So that’s the examples of Tempo.

Now let’s go to the second topic which is Melodic Lines.

Melodic line is the main subject

Polyphonic? And Homophonic means?

Monophonic means? One sound


Very good. How about polyphonic? Two sounds
That’s right. Two songs sang together.
How about Homophonic? Can you still remember the A song with accompaniment.

accompaniment.

That’s right. If we sang it in unison without accompaniment
that is Monophonic.
And if we put an accompaniment in the song that is called
Homophonic.

I will divide you into 2 groups.


The 1st group will sing the song “Row, row, row your boat”
While the 2ng group will sing the song “Mary had a little
lamb.”

A Round Song is a kind of song that is repeated over and


over. And each group enters in different measures.

Just like a circle. What can you observe in a circle? It’s round
Yes its round and it has no end. And it keeps on circling and
circling.

Now this time let’s sing the “Are you sleeping, Brother
john?” in a round song.

This first group will sing the 1st stanza.


Then after the first stanza the 2nd group will enter.

Thickness.

In music, if the soloist sings without accompaniment, we
called it “Monophony”. Because the definition of
Monophony is one voice or melody sang in unison or solo
without accompaniment. Students, monophony has a thin
sound.
So Monophonic means one sound or one instrument/ Thin

Class what is Homophonic means again? A song with accompaniment


That’s right. It is a song with accompaniment.

In music, if the soloist sings with accompaniment, we


called it “Homophony”. Homophony is one voice or melody
sang in unison or solo with accompaniment. Homophony
has a thick sound.

So homophonic means a song with accompaniment/ that is


Thick.

What have we discussed? We discuss about tempo,
melodic lines and thin and thickness. In tempo we have
four kinds? We have slow- adagio, moderate- moderato,
fast- allegro, Very fast- presto. Let’s go to melodic lines.
What is homophonic means? One sound. How about
polyphonic? Two songs sang together. And the last one is
Homophonic which means? A song with accompaniment.
And the last topic is the thin and thickness. How about this
book that I’m holing is it thicker or thinner? How about this
piece of paper? It is thinner or thicker?
