POINTER FLUTTER / DAMPENING

Gauges exposed to vibration that manifests itself as pointer flutter due to pulsating fluids or
vibrating machinery can benefit from dampening. In most cases, dampening completely
eliminates pointer flutter without influencing accuracy.

Perma-Cal gauges are dampened with a viscous silicone oil as a standard. In extreme cold,
below approximately -20°F, the silicone can freeze and impede pointer movement. Because of
this, any dial trim combination can be obtained with or without dampening.

It is recommended that all gauges be ordered with dampening unless ambient temperatures are
routinely below 0°F .

1. All 2" gauges have aluminum dials with no Mirror Band or Zero Adjust.
