    IT team turns up at civic HQ for

    TDS inspection
    NAVI MUMBAI: A eight-member team of of IT department Mumbai arrived at
    the NMMC headquarters on Tuesday morning to conduct a 24-hour-long
    inspection of the tax deduction at source (TDS) made by all the civic departments.

    It was done to ensure that TDS has been correctly deducted and the amount
    deposited with the government account as well. NMMC commissioner, N
    Ramaswami confirmed the visit but said it was a routine survey. "All required
    documents were provided to the team.

    There was no irregularities or discrepancies found," said the civic chief. As per
    sources the reason for the sudden inspection has to do with low TDS collection
    reported last year compared to 2015-16.

    "The expenditure in 2016-17 was just half of 2015-16 which impacts the TDS as
    well," said an official on condition of anonymity.
