sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.
2. General Knowledge and Currents Affairs‐

awareness including staꝏc general knowledge. Quesꝏons on current affairs will test
candidates on their knowledge of current affairs.
3. Mathemaꝏcs‐
This secꝏon will test candidate's knowledge on elementary mathemaꝏcs, i.e. maths
taught up to Class X.
4. Legal Apꝏtude‐
This secꝏon will test candidate's interest towards study of law, research apꝏtude and

that any person who speaks in a movie hall and disturbs others that are watching the

ANS. Yes, the CLAT exam, has a system of Negaꝏve Marking, wherein 0.25 mark will be
deducted for each of the wrong answers.
Q11.How should I prepare for CLAT?
ANS. The preparaꝏon of CLAT is very exhausꝏve. Over the years due to the increase in the
number of students opꝏng for the exam, the level of compeꝏꝏon has increased
considerably. Due to the factors of compeꝏꝏon and open syllabus, most students prefer to
prepare under proper guidance. There are various preparaꝏon courses spanning from 2
years’ preparaꝏon to 1 year and even 1.5 months. As much as possible if a student is
serious for Law as a career and desirous of joining a Top Law university it is be녙er to do in
depth preparaꝏon. Long term preparaꝏon programs are be녙er as they help to pace
oneself to do in depth preparaꝏon. Having said that it is not that the intensive course
does not have students securing top ranks, it's just that the academic pressure is
considerably more.
One of the main aspects that would help you to prepare for the exam is to develop a habit
of maintaining notes related to current affairs. The Staꝏc General Knowledge requires
relevant material in History, Geography, Economics and General Sciences, and a proper
understanding of basic legal concepts and legal reasoning along with basic and advanced
concepts of Analyꝏcal and criꝏcal reasoning. Quanꝏtaꝏve apꝏtudes consisꝏng of Class X
level concepts are required. All the menꝏoned secꝏons should be pracꝏced keeping in
mind the ꝏme constraints. The CLAT exam does not have any structured syllabi to adhere
to making it all though more challenging!
Q12. Where can I obtain a CLAT Informaꝏon Brochure?
ANS. The CLAT Informaꝏon Brochure can be downloaded from the CLAT website
(clat.ac.in) as well as the websites of the members of the Naꝏonal Law Universiꝏes.

Q13. Where do I get the applicaꝏon form?
ANS. For the year 2017, the Applicaꝏon Forms and Informaꝏon Brochure were available in
designated State Bank of India branches or were also available online from 1st January
2017 onwards.
Q14. Do I have to separately purchase Applicaꝏon Form?
ANS. No, normally it is provided with the informaꝏon brochure.
Q15. What is the cost of CLAT‐2017 Applicaꝏon Form and Informaꝏon Brochure?

Q16. Do I also need to purchase Informaꝏon Brochure of member Naꝏonal Law

universiꝏes.

Law Universiꝏes?

updated informaꝏon about the courses available.
Q18. Are foreign naꝏonals required to take CLAT for admission to any of the Naꝏonal
Law Universiꝏes?
ANS. Taking the CLAT exam is not permi녙ed for Foreign Naꝏonals. By visiꝏng the websites
of the respecꝏve NLUs of interest, you can clarify your doubts relaꝏng to the procedure of
admission. Normally the admission procedure for foreign naꝏonals by the NLUs which
have the respecꝏve seats, are directly on the basis of their performance in the qualifying
examinaꝏon, academic record and their overall command over the English language.
Q19. Is there any specific Performa to send request for an applicaꝏon form to CLAT
Convenor or just a simple applicaꝏon in wriꝏng would suffice?
ANS. There is no requirement for sending any request for those falling under the General
Category for admission, in fact the procedures for applicaꝏon forms are clearly outlined
on the CLAT website and they are easily available. Foreign Naꝏonals need to apply directly
to the University in the prescribed format available on the respecꝏve Naꝏonal Law

context is based on data provided by people which do not even belong to the legal
educaꝏon sector of India. Historically NLSUI Bangalore is considered the most reputed
