0 INTRODUCTION

Judgment Day is a day when it will bring death to the whole universe. All
planets will fall out of their orbits, mountains will be moved and all living things will
absolutely die1, as Allah said;

“So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast, and Earth and the mountains are
lifted and crushed with a single blow. Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur.”
(Al- Quran, Surat al-Haqqa, 13-15)

This is the day that most of the people do not like to think. They now about
death, Last Day, and the Hereafter but refuse to ponder them. They still consider that
the day of Judgment is still far away. However, Allah told us that the death will find
everyone. Everyone can not afford to think about what will happen on that day, and
by thinking about it just only scares them, so they decide to forget that Judgment Day.
2

Muslims believe that this present life is a preparation for the next life. Life in
this world is only a test for each individual for the life after death and temporary. One
day, there will come when the whole universe will be destroyed and all the dead
creators will be resurrected to be judged by Allah. This is the beginning of life that
will never end. This is the Day of The Judgment. Then all people will be judged by
Allah based on the deeds that they have done in the world while they are still alive.
Those who die and holds that “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the
Messenger of Allah” and the Muslims will be hosted in Paradise forever, as God has
said:

“And those who believe and do good deeds, they are dwellers of Paradise, they dwell
there in forever.” (Al-Quran, Surat al-Baqara, 82)

1
But those who die and not believing that “There is no god but Allah, and
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah” and not a Muslims, will be driven to Hellfire,
as God has said:

“And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted from him and
he will be one of the losers in the Hereafter.” (Al- Quran, Surat Aal-e-Imran, 85).3

At this time, everyone will witness clearly the existence of God and will face
the death that they have tried to forget about it. It is also the beginning of the
Hereafter which is eternal and the misery of unbelievers was waiting for them. When
the first moment of this eternal life, the punishment that would be experienced by
them was so scary and horrifying until some of them were begging for “death” and
“abolition”.

Life in the hereafter is a very real and eternal life. It’s not just spiritual, but
also physically. We will live there together with our souls and bodies. If we want to
compare life in this world with the Hereafter, the Prophet Muhammad said:

“The world’s worth as compared to the hereafter is what your fingers carry from the
sea when you put it in and then remove it.”

Which mean Hereafter is like some drops of water compared to the sea.

In fact believe in the hereafter is believed wholeheartedly that the imminent

end of the will of God and no one will know at any time the incident occurred. The
purpose is to warn us of a Day on which we will meet whatever happens, and to guide
us to safety and the eternal life in Paradise. Therefore, we must provide enough
supply to carry there. By executing all the commandments of Allah and abandoning
all its prohibitions so that our life in the hereafter will be assured.

2.0 WHAT IS THE DAY OF JUDGMENT ?

Muslims believe that this present life is merely a trial preparation for the next
realm of existence. They believe that life is actually a test for each individual to
prepare them for life after death. There will come a day where the entire universe will
be destroyed. After this happens, God will resurrect every individual to account for
their lives. This event is described by God in the Quran, “On that Day, people will
come forward in separate groups to be shown their deeds: whoever has done an
atom’s weight of good will see it, but whoever has done an atom’s weight of evil will
see that” (99:6-8). God will weigh every individuals’ good and bad actions according
to His Mercy and His Justice. He will forgive many sins and multiply the reward for
many noble deeds.

One whose life is centred around goodness and righteousness will be rewarded
generously. They will enter an eternal paradise of pure bliss. The people of heaven
will reside in beautiful mansions. They will never suffer from disease, fatigue and old
age. God will remove animosity and pain from everyone’s hearts. He will provide
supreme healing in a world full of abundance and luxury, of lush gardens and flowing
rivers.

Those who die believing that “There is no true god but God, and Muhammad
is the Messenger (Prophet) of God” and are Muslim will be rewarded on that day.
They will be given admission to Paradise forever, as God has said:

And those who believe and do good deeds, they are dwellers of Paradise, they dwell
therein forever. (Quran, 2:82)

On the other hand, one whose evils and wrongs outweigh his virtues will be
punished. They will be led to Hellfire. Despite all that God has blessed us with, they
neglected the primary purpose of their existence which is to lead their lives in
accordance with His Will and Guidance. The Quran describes Hell as a place filled
with immense suffering, extreme temperatures, unquenchable thirst and blazing
flames.

3
But those who die while not believing that “There is no true God, and
Muhammad is the messenger (Prophet) of God” or are not Muslim will lose Paradise
forever and will be sent to Hellfire, as God has said:

And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted from him and
he will be one of the losers in the Hereafter, (Quran, 3:85)

And as He has said:

Those who have disbelieved and died in disbelief, the earth full of gold would not be
accepted from any of them if it were offered as a ransom. They will have a painful
punishment, and they will have no helpers. (Quran, 3:91)

The life we are currently living is very short. The unbelievers of the Day of
Judgement will think that the life they lived on earth was only a day or part of a day,
as God has said:

He (God) will say. “How many years did you stay on the earth?” They will say: “We
stayed a day or part of a day…” (Quran, 23:112-113)

And he has said:

Did you then think that We had created you in jest, and that you would not be
returned to Us? So, God is exalted, the True King. None has the right to be
worshipped but Him… (Quran, 23:115-116)

The life in the Hereafter is the real purpose of our existence. Life there is spiritual as
well as spiritual. We will live there with our souls as well as our bodies.

In comparing this world with the Hereafter, Prophet Muhammad said:

“The value of this world with the Hereafter compared to that of the Hereafter is like
what your finger brings from the sea when you put it in the sea and then take it out.”

In short, Prophet Mohammad said if we were to relate this world with the Hereafter it
can be said that the value of this world is like a few drops of water compared to the
sea.

In conclusion, the Day of Judgement is the time in which God will decide whether an
individual is worthy to reside in Paradise or whether the individual should be cast into
Hellfire. Judgement is based on the individuals’ doings on Earth.

4
3.0 SIGNS OF THE DAY OF JUDGMENT

No one knows when the Day of the Judgement will occur. However, God is merciful
and taught his messengers some of the signs that will enable us to be aware when the
Hour is approaching. These signs are very important as they reinforce one’s belief in
the Prophet, especially for those who live in a different era that of the Prophet as they
didn’t get the opportunity to experience his teachings and example first hand. In
addition these signs serve as a reminder of the Day of Judgement to all Muslims. By
taking time to reflect upon the signs of the Day of Judgement, one’s heart can be
revived as they will recall their purpose on this Earth.

The signs of the Hour can be divided into two types. The first are those that occur as
part of the changes in everyday life. They are called “minor signs”. The second are
extraordinary or supernatural events that will occur close to the actual Hour. They are
knows as the “major signs”.

3.1 MINOR SIGNS OF THE DAY OF JUDGMENT

Minor Signs are signs expected to occur during the End Times. The Minor signs
either precede the start of the Major Signs or occur after the beginning of the Major
Signs, but they are not prominent enough to be classified as Major Signs.

Today, most of the Minor Signs have been fulfilled.

No single Hadith lists all the minor sings, but there are hundreds of minor signs
mentioned in hundreds of Hadiths. These Hadiths do not usually mention that they are
Minor Signs. On the other hand, there are Hadiths that only state all the Major Signs.
So, we can tell that these are the Minor signs as they are not listed among the Major

3.2 MAJOR SIGNS OF THE DAY OF JUDGMENT

The major signs are signs that will occur relatively close to the Day of Judgment and
involve matters that are considered extraordinary or sensational.

There are ten major Signs of the Last Day as prophesied by Prophet Muhammad:

• Dajjal — the false Messiah or Anti-Christ,

4
Beriman Kepada Hari Akhirat

8
• Gog and Magog,

• Smoke,

• The beast of the earth or land (most likely the holy land),

• The sun rising from the west,

• Three sinkings of the earth

• One in the east

• One in the west

• One in Arabia,

• A fire would come out of Yemen and would drive people to their place of assembly
(for judgement),

• The son of Mary will descend5

There are a number of hadeeth in which the Prophet Muhammad mentioned the major
signs of the Day of Judgement. These hadeeth include the following:

Imam Muslim records in his Saheeh:

Hudhaifa b. Usaid Ghifari narrated, “God’s Messenger came to us all of a sudden as

we were (busy in a discussion). He said, ‘What are you discussing?’ They (the
Companions) said, ‘We are discussing the Last Hour.’ Thereupon he said, ‘It will not
come until you see ten signs before it.’ And (in this connection) he made a mention of
the smoke, Dajjaal, the beast, the rising of the sun from the west, the descent of Jesus
son of Mary (may God praise them), Gog and Magog, and landslides in three places,
one in the east, one in the west and one in Arabia, at the end of which a fire would
burn forth from the Yemen and drive people to the place of their assembly.’”

Muslim also writes in his Saheeh:

The Messenger of God said, “The Last Hour would not come until the ten signs
appear: a landslide in the east, and a landslide in the west, and a landslide in the
peninsula of Arabia, the smoke, the Dajjaal, the beast of the earth, Gog and Magog,
the rising of the sun from the west and the fire which would emit from the lower part

of Aden.” Shu’ba said that ‘Abd al− ‘Aziz b. Rufai’ reported on the authority of Abu
Tufail who reported on the authority of Abu Sariha a hadeeth like this that God’s
Apostle did not make a mention of (the tenth sign) but he said that out of the ten one
was the descent of Jesus Christ, son of Mary (peace be upon him), and in another
version it is the blowing of the violent gale which would drive the people to the
ocean.

There are a couple of other hadeeth in which the Prophet mentioned some of the same
events as above. In these hadeeth, he did not mention them as explicitly being signs of
the Hour. Instead, the Prophet gave a very strong admonition and warning that people
must perform their good deeds before these events occur, as these events directly
herald the ending of the time for deeds and the beginning of the time of reckoning. 6

3.3 THE ORDER OF APPEARANCE AND THE NATURE OF THE

MAJOR SIGNS

There are no explicit texts that mention the order of appearance of the major signs of
the Day of Judgement. The hadeeth mentions the signs in a group, either using the
conjunction “and” or “or”. Neither case implies that these conjunctions give any
indication to the order of the events. In fact, al-Waabil notes, some of the hadeeths
mention the events in different orders.

However, Ibn Hajar has divided the major signs into two main categories. The first set
of signs are signs that are to occur on this Earth, without the nature of the Earth
changing completely. These signs are to clearly awaken the people to usher them to
the path of repentance to God. During the occurrence of these signs, the believer and
the disbeliever cannot be distinguished nor is there any unquestionable occurrence in
this creation that makes it clear that Resurrection is near. Dajjaal, the return of Jesus,
Gog and Magog and the landslides are signs that are categorised in the first set of
major signs.

The second category of the major signs include the appearance of the beast, the smoke
and the rising of the sun from the West. These signs leave no doubt as to the actual

10
occurring of the Resurrection and the end of Creation as we know it. The believer and
disbeliever will be distinguished. Hence, during and after these signs, there will be no
question of repentance or returning to God. At the time of these signs, it will be too
late for anyone to repent to be accepted by God.

The signs are to follow up each other at a relatively fast pace as Ahmad recorded in
his Musnad that the Prophet said:

“The signs are like beads strung on a string. If the string breaks, they [quickly] follow
one after the other.”

4.0 SIGNIFICANCE OF JUDGEMENT DAY

As we all aware that justice is very important and is the main concern in Islam.
It is compulsory that one should get justice both in this world and also the hereafter. It
sounds wise, natural and fair enough that one day a person will receive back whatever
good or bad thing he does. The Dooms Day, the Day of Reckoning, the Day of
Accountability or the Day of Resurrection is another name for The Judgement Day as
it says in Al-Quran. The two angels which are Raqib and Atid are maintaining the
record of every word and movement according to Islamic concept.7

The significance of Judgement Day is to show the power of Allah as Allah is

the Most Powerful. If there is no The Dooms Day, all creatures couldn’t witness the
power of Allah. Even, we will think that all creatures are as same as Allah, which is
eternal, in the fact, it is so untrue. Only Allah is Eternal and has power on everything
in this universe. Then, if the Judgement Day happened, all creatures will witness the
Greatness of Allah. Even the sun, moon, sky, stars, and mountain will be destroyed
including the devils and angels. Whereas there is no human can do that.8

11
“And He is the subjugator over His servants, and He sends over you guardian-angels
until, when death comes to one of you, Our messengers take him, and they do not fail
[in their duties].”

( Al An’Am : 61 )

The Judgement Day is also about justice. It’s a day where we seek justice for
all the wrong doings that people had done. People cannot just get away from what
they have done. It is unfair that people who had persecuted others just die without
getting any punishment for what they had done. In the Judgement Day, each person
will have their own account of deeds and offenses. That is why the Judgement Day is
also called as the Accountability Day. Everyone’s record is being kept during their
lifetime and the record is completely accurate. On that day, everyone will get their
own final verdict from Allah Almighty. Nobody will be mistreated and wronged on
the Day of Accountability. A person’s limbs will be his witness so that the
mouth cannot lie anymore and he will be shown his recorded film of all his period in
the world. Everyone will be rewarded or punished accordingly based on his actions
during his lifetime.9 Surah Al-Isra says:

“Everyman’s fate we have fastened on his own neck. On the Day of Judgment we
shall bring out for him a scroll, which he will see spread open. Read thine record
sufficient is thy soul this day to make out an account against thee”

The other significance of the Judgement Day is to give awareness to human to

always do good deeds and stay away from bad things such as adultery, stealing,
robbing, killing etc. as all their actions will be count on the Judgement Day.10 This
will determined whether they will be put in the Heaven or Hell. As Allah had said in
the Holy Al- Quran that those who do good deeds and have faith in Allah will taste
the sweetness of Heaven meanwhile those who disobey Allah will be punished in the
Hell.

12
Besides, the Judgement Day will make we realized that this world will not last
forever.11 Our life in this world is only temporary as this world is only our stopover so
that we can continue our journey towards the hereafter, a world for eternity. Actually
it is a journey to go to our real home which is Heaven, where we are supposed to be.
Humans knew the history of our existence in this world which is Prophet Adam was
actually came from Heaven but because of the deception from the devil, he was
delivered to the Earth and Allah created Hawa as his spouse. So it is clear that our
actual home is Heaven and we must go back there.

The Day of Judgement also trained humans to be sincere in whatever they do

as each actions taken is because of Allah ( Lillahi Taala ). Our fear of the Judgement
Day will turned us into good servants where we surrender ourselves completely to
Allah Almighty. It automatically will improve our faith and also our obedience
towards Allah.

Another significance of Judgement Day is to make sure humans do not deviate

from the goal of life.12 Human is a leader in this world. They are not only leader to the
world or society but also a leader to themselves as they need to lead themselves to the
right path towards Allah Almighty. Human’s goal is to achieve happiness in the
hereafter and not too focusing on this world as this world is only our stopover. We are
on this Earth only to collect supply for the hereafter. Having belief in the Judgement
Day will keep human from going astray.

Next is to forming a society that is capable of jihad defending the sanctity of

Islam.13 When Muslims have a strong faith in the hereafter and realized that Islam is
the right path, they will have a strong feeling in defending Islam which is called as
‘jihad’. This will protect the sanctity of Islam as a true religion. Besides, Muslims are
aware that those who die in jihad will be rewarded and will be sent to Heaven. So in
order to get those rewards, Muslims will fight for Islam.

13
Last but not least, Judgment Day also trained us to have patience in the truth
and when it comes to misfortune.14 In life, we will face a lot of tests, obstacles and
challenges. It depends on us how we react on those tests. When we believe in the
Judgement Day, we will put in our mind that affliction in this world only for
temporary and we will be patience for everything that happen because we trust Allah.
As it says in Surah Ali Imran, verse 185:

“Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on
the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to
Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the
enjoyment of delusion.”

5.0 IT’S EFFECT ON HUMAN LIFE

5.1 OBEY ALLAH’S COMMANDS

There can be no concept of the good or bad concept of human values or
without the concept of the hereafter, without fear of God leading towards sin and
disobedience, believing that we have sinned so much, so that God is unlikely to
forgive us only leads us to despair. In addition, the Al-Quran that had been revealed
to Prophet Muhammad S.A.W contains many lessons and teach us about the Hereafter
and Judgment Day. Therefore, Muslims believe that all humans will eventually be
judged by Allah for their beliefs and actions in their earthly life. In judging humanity,
God Almighty is Most Merciful, He will judge us in all aspects of our deeds,
goodness, behaviour and our practices as a Muslims. Believing in Allah and the Last
Day will make a person always do good deeds righteous deeds, leave all the
prohibitions of Allah, equip themselves with high ethics, and fear Allah.
Belief in the future is part of the truth Faith. When we beliefs in the Hereafter
we will follow the right path and control our attitudes and performs His duties

according to the teachings of Islam. We know well that we must answer to Allah for
our actions in this world, so we improve our deeds and guide our life according to the
tasks that had been set by Allah. When we believe on Judgment Day, we will not care
about the small happiness of this world because this happiness is temporary and it
mixes with pain and problems. So we will follow Allah commands to achieve our
goal, Paradise because Paradise is an incomparable place compared to this temporary
world.
It is narrated by Prophet S.A.W said:
"The act only relies on the 3 intention. Everyone will only acquire it, which
he actually intended, therefore whoever emigrated to Allah and His Messenger, His
Messenger; The worldly gain, which she wants to earn or a woman, whom she wants
to marry, her migration will be heading towards what is actually meant for”
We will always be fair and never oppress anyone whether they are rich or
poor. If we wants to get rich, we will always strive and try our best to achieve the
goals. We will spend the money and custody for good and useful things. For example,
we organize a charity campaign to collect the funds and give it to the people who are
in need. We know ours rights and respects the others right. We will often to helps
person who are in need by helping them to solve their problems. Because we feels the
responsibility for doing good in the hope that the others will follow our footsteps for
good. This principle is an important factor that will govern the lives of individuals and
communities, and ensure peace and order.
The person who believes it will not deceive and always act honestly. For
example we will not deceiving and cheating for profit in selling and buying activities.
Besides, we will do everything in due course and do not delay it. As a proof, we will
immediately perform the prayers when it comes to prayer time, right after azan and
always keep the promises. Be honest towards yourself, family, environment, nation
15
and nation as well as humanity.
In conclusion, when one comes to us with a verse from the Quran or an
authentic hadith of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W, we should not come up with our

own perception or excuses, rather we should hear and obey Allah and His Messenger.
16
As Allah said,
"The only words of the believers, when they are called to God and His
Messenger, to decide between them, they say," We hear and we obey. "And those are
successful people and whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, fears Allah, and
fulfils its obligations, that are what works." (Al- Quran, An- Nur, 51-52)

5.2 AWARE THAT LIFE IS NOT OUR FINAL DESTINATION

What is the Afterlife?

According to Wikipedia, afterlife referred to as life after death that will happen after
someone died. Death is one of the facts of life that everyone will face it without
following their ages, races or status. Islam teaches that when someone died on earth,
they will go through the eternal life of the hereafter.

According to Islam, when confronted with a calamity, one should say, ‘To God we
belong and to Him we shall return’ (Quran 2:156). This ‘ayat’ is also recited when
someone dies. It will remind us of our origin and our final destiny. So we will not
forget the purpose of our lives in perspective.17

Journey into the Afterlife

At the point when the spirit leaves the body, the individual will gaze at it, and his eyes
will follow it. The soul will go up to the heavens to begin its journey. As for a
believer, permission would look up for the entryways of heaven to be opened and the
doors would be open till it reaches the seventh heaven. As the God says:

‘thereof (the earth) We created you, and into it, We shall return you, and from it, We
shall bring you out once again’ (Quran 20:55)

It would then be returned to the body. As for the nonbeliever, permission would look
up for the entryway of the lowest heaven to be opened, but the angels decline it will
cast back to earth. God, Almighty, tells us:

‘Verily, those who belie our Signs and treat them with arrogance, for them the gates
of heaven will not be opened, and they will not enter Paradise until the camel goes
through the eye of the needle. Thus do We recompense the criminal sinners.’ (Quran
7:40)18

Thereafter, one will remain in either they will be bliss or punishment in the grave until
The day of Judgement.

Why do we need to belief the Afterlife?

Trusting in the spirit and the hereafter is chief about having faith in the unseen.
Similarly, as our souls are intangible creatures offering life to our physical bodies, the
world we see around us is working in based on an undetectable system created by
God who is Ever-Watchful and All-Aware. Muslims trust that God is additionally Just
and He keeps up a fastidious record of our deeds. We will be rewarded for our natural
lives in the afterlife beyond where extreme the final justice happen.

People actually look for justice in all parts of their lives. At the point when a man
works, they hope to get a suitable salary. At the point when an individual is hurt, they
look for compensation. When somebody helps another, they suspect gratefulness for
their effort. Despite the fact that people struggle hard to set up justice, actually, this
world will never be perfectly just. Numerous criminals go unpunished while the
oppressed are denied basic rights. Do their lives simply dissolve with no
responsibility or reasonable managing?

God declares in the Quran, ‘Do those who commit evil deeds really think that We will
deal with them in the same way as those who believe and do righteous deeds, that
they will be alike in their living and their dying? How badly they judge!’(Quran
45:21).

17
In existence in the wake of death, the evil doers will not be able to get away from the
grasp of justice and victims of worldly suffering will be recompensed for their pain.
Individuals who spent their lives mindfully, maintaining a strategic distance from
attraction to commit sins, will likewise be compensated.

As specified in the Quran, ‘God created the heavens and the earth for a true purpose:
to reward each soul according to its deeds. They will not be wronged’ (Quran 45:22).

According to Islam, one of the best injustice people can submit is to deny God's
presence, and accomplices to Him or worship worldly or materialistic objectives.
Islam shows that God is the Creator, Sustainer and Nourisher of each being in the
heaven and the earth. As His creation, it is right that we worship and obey Him. He
gives us with His blessings every day out of His love and kindness. Worshiping Him
is a declaration of appreciation to God, and ignoring Him or worshiping others is
ungratefulness and a denial of His blessings.

If our man-made judicial systems punish individuals for submitting injustices against
other individuals, it is considerably more justifiable that God would punish the
individuals who deny Him His rights and confer injustices against His creation.

God says in the Quran, ‘We shall set up scales of justice for the Day of Judgment, so
that not a soul will be dealt with unjustly in the least, and if there be (no more than)
the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it (to account): and enough are We to take
account’ (21:47).19

Moreover, belief in the Afterlife will make us become more responsible for doing
something and thinking before doing something for what is good and what is bad. For
example, if the person wants to sell his products or services, he will not do the ‘riba’
because he thinks about the future means the afterlife. If he doing the ‘riba’ he will be
punished in the Hell for what he had been in the world. All we know that the world is
just a transit to go to the eternal life which is Heaven or Hell. So, if we want to make
sure to enter the Heaven, all we need to do in the world is worship to the God and
doing what He says and leaving what He does not like.

5.3 INSTILL FAITH

The believer's purpose on the Day of Judgment is to believe that all that has been
preached by Allah through the Qur'an and what has been told by Rasulullah s.a.w
through his sunnah on the things that will happen after death, is something to be sure.

This includes faith in signs of death, death, state of sickness, death events such as
very bad or very serious spoken lies, punishment and destruction, trumpet blast and
returning from the dead day.

It is also a responsibility of the coming of the doom of embarrassment in front of

many people, the gathering of the Mahsyar field, the best of his generous kindness,
the heaven and his most powerful better than anyone or anything else favors, to see
the Substance of Allah. It is the fear that the existence of hell and the most terrible of
it, that they are blocked or interfered-with from seeing Allah. With the claims of this
faith.

When this faith is present in one's heart, it will produce very good results. That is
firstly, always want to do generous kindness and defend it for expecting a reward for
the day.

Second, always afraid of doing evil things, let alone the fear of torture on that day.

Thirdly, as an entertainer for believers because of the undeserved enjoyment in the

world of nature will be replaced with the enjoyment of the after now and reward .20

5.4 BELIEVE IN AFTERLIFE , HEAVEN AND HELL

Meaning of Belief in the Last Day is firm belief that All-powerful Allah will raise
people to life from their places where bodies are buried. He will then judge them
according to their deeds. Those who deserve to go to Paradise will be sent to it, while
those who deserve to go to Hellfire will be sent to it.

19
The Qur'an importance and focuses belief in the last Day and draws attention to it
on many occasions, employing different modes of expression in Arabic and linking
belief in the Last Day with belief in Allah.

The reason for this is that belief in the Last Day is a necessary result of belief in
All-powerful Allah and His complete and total justice. To illustrate Allah does not
approve of terribly unfair treatment; He will not let the people who commit crimes go
unpunished, nor will He let the wronged down by not getting correct or make up for
things that happened in the past that were mean or unfair for the wrong done to them,
nor will

He disappoint the honest and good by not rewarding them for their moral
rightness. Many are those who spent all their lives badly mistreating others without
being punished until they died.

Many are those who suffered a great deal of terribly unfair treatment and died
without ever getting make up for things that happened in the past that were mean for
the wrong done to them. This means there has to be another life, other than the present
life, where the morally right will be rewarded and the people who do terrible, cruel
things will be punished, everyone getting the reward or punishment they deserve.

Belief in the last Day is one of the articles of faith, and faith will not be valid
unless one believes in the Last Day, as the Qur'an states, "Truly religious are those
who believe in Allah and the Last Day." (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:177 )

Belief in the Last Day reminds people to lead a religious life, do morally right
deeds, fear Allah and stay away from selfishness and bold obnoxiousness. It is for this
reason that the Qur'an often links belief in the Last Day with morally right deeds. The
following verses are examples showing this: "The mosques of Allah should only be
attended by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day." (Surah At-Tawbah, 9:18)
"Those who believe in the existence after death do believe in it, and they are careful
of their prayers." (Surah Al-An'aam, 6:92)

It reminds those who are totally soaked up in the life of the world and its short-
lived pleasures of the importance of fighting with one another to exactly follow orders
Allah, strongly encouraging them to do as many good deeds as they are alive and

20
showing them that the worldly life is short-lived and that the existence after death is
the everlasting home.

After praising His messengers in the Qur'an and talking about their morally right
deeds, Allah talks about the reason that brought reminded them to do such honest and
good acts: "We purified their sincerity through sincere remembrance of the Abode."
(Surah Saad, 38:46) This means that their constant memory of the existence after
death was the reason behind their performance of such acts.

When some of the Muslims became too slow to exactly follow orders Allah and
His Messenger on one occasion, Allah told about the following verse, "Do you prefer
the life of this world to the hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, compared to
that of the hereafter." (Surah At-Tawbah, 9:38) Belief in the existence after death
makes a person understand that all worldly comforts cannot be possibly compared to
the never-ending extreme happiness in Paradise, nor is it worth one single dip in
Hellfire .

It makes one understand that all worldly discomforts and difficult situations for
the benefit of Allah cannot be possibly compared to punishment, in Hellfire, nor will
it be compared to even one dip in Paradise.

It makes a person made happy by meeting a need or reaching a goal with his lot
in life. He does not feel sad or lose heart if he misses a worldly opportunity. Rather,
he does what he can possibly do, knowing for certain that Allah will not let the reward
of anyone who does a good deed go to waste. If anything has been unfairly or
dishonestly taken away from him, even if it is smaller than particles, he will certainly
get it back on the Day of Judgement when he will be in terrible and serious need of it.

How then can someone feel sad when he knows for sure that he will get his
rightful dues at a very critical moment on the Day of Judgement? How can he
possibly suffer because of death or be worried when he knows that it is the Best of
Judges who will judge between him and his enemies?21

5.5 LESS JUDGMENTAL TO OTHERS

Oddly, people with a good judgment are not considered judgmental. This is
because judgmental is actually a negative word to describe someone who often rushes
to judge another person without any reason. Being a judgmental person is considered
as a bad attitude because it can cause slander to others. In effect of that, the society’s
life will be a chaos since there is animosity everywhere.22

Belief in the Day of Judgement will trained the society to be less judgmental
towards others. This can be happen because when people believe, their faith towards
Allah will increase and they are aware that Allah’s creatures are all same despite of
anything else. On the Day of Judgement itself, every creature will be resurrected in
same condition which is naked. It shown that we are same and there is no need to
judge others.

As being judgmental can bring slander to others, having a faith that each
action will be counted on the Judgement Day can actually make people afraid to judge
others without reasons because they don’t want to create slander on others that can be
the reason they were dragged into the Hell. As Muslim, we are aware that we need to
seek forgiveness from people that we have wronged in order to taste the sweetness of
Heaven.

It also can clear the heart from the black dots and prevent evil things from
continuing to nest in our hearts. Prejudice will only create hatred in our heart. So it is
important for us to not be judgmental.

Besides, being less judgmental can create a positive attitude towards

competing with each other. This is because Muslims who have the desire to compete
with those who have succeeded will benefit all Muslims including himself.

It is undeniable that having belief in the Day of Judgement can effect our daily
life as we will be less judgmental towards others due to our fear on Allah’s doom.

6.0 CONCLUSION

Those are all that we should awaken from now on. We might not know when is the
real signs will be spreading. Before it occurs, we should more pray so our iman will
always in Allah side. Our duty is to be prepared for it all times. There are many
Quranic verses and authentic Hadiths to explain that the Last Hour is very close to
happening and the appearance of some of the Signs of the Last Hour is a clear proof
of this very fact

One thing we should know that the knowledge of the Final Hour is with Allah
alone. The fact of its coming is certain, but the exact time when it will appear has not
been revealed. If it were, it would disturb our thoughts and life.

The life in the Hereafter is a very real life. It is not only spiritual but physical as
well. We will live there with our souls and bodies.

We can conclude that the last day is the Day of Judgment, in which the world will
be destroyed, then all the people will be resurrected to be judged and repaid according
to the deeds of each of the Muslims. At that time the good and bad one's behavior will
be recorded depends on how one's faith is in his heart.

People who truly believe the Day of Judgment will always keep good behavior and
try to keep away from bad things.
